Our negotiations committee chairman commented he’s now turning down additional union projects to fly as much as possible to make himself “more marketable”. Our lead union negotiator appears to be headed for the nearest exit and that says it all.

I'm not sure why you think the Union is the problem... They're asking for an Industry Standard Contract. Are you saying that all you have to do is walk in a new union rep and they'd roll over? All of the sudden they'd become good people who care about their employees? They could have K4's contract if they wanted it but that's pretty far from Industry Standard - they want more. They've been elected and re-elected unopposed by those who want an Industry Standard Contract. Management is refusing to give them that.

Only one TA signed in 6 months, 18 more sections to TA..all the economic and QOL articles... no progress in the last two months with the new company lead negotiator from United. It’s apparent now his only function is to provide just enough hope among the crews to keep the company from going terminal too soon from attrition.
The execs must have a betting pool on how few TA’s they’ll have to reluctantly sign before they can wash their hands of this company and cash their 66 million dollar bonus checks.
I give AAWH 18 months tops before it’s chopped up and sold off.

The system is surely broken if management can be incentivized to delay and/or postpone fair and overdue contract negotiations to an underpaid staff of professional employees in the hope of reaping a financial windfall as the reward for this deceitful if not criminal behavior. I would call my congressman.

All the concession and compromise in the world will not help a company whose executive management have all but declared themselves enemy actors. I feel for the pilots there, and wish them all the best in their careers. I have not personally had many positive experiences during my long-past time as a member of 747, but anyone who thinks the union is The Big Problem here is simply not acknowledging the nature of the beast, as it currently stands.

SKW friend was there today and said they were offering on the spot interviews for class dates. Target range sounded like 1000-1500 hours for the 737 program and marketing it almost identically how all the regionals are. He said talking with them that they are hiring people that meet the following (grabbed off their 2/4 BizJetJobs posting):
Also didn't hire another friend recently because they were too "overqualified" at 2500 TT/800 TPIC and considered a "risk of leaving too quickly." Doesn't bode well at all.

The union has the bar set high, which is their job. The company has yet to make one single proposal to us.

Things are progressing as expected: we are getting nowhere. I don't think selling ouselves short is an improvement, though.

I agree. As soon as union backs off - it only gets worse from there. It’s a game of chicken for the company - they just don’t realize no one is coming the other way.
