New Atlas CBA = Colossal Union Failure
#151
I wasn't able to post a new thread, so I'll piggyback off this one and hope for the best.
121 regional FO on reserve, never flying. I'm in a base and on an aircraft that never flies. Luck of the draw. I'm debating about jumping ship to Atlas to get a heavy type and stack flight hours just to leave to other majors upon being called.
Collective thoughts? How bad is this CBA for someone who wants in and then out promptly?

Explain your thoughts on this.
From what I’ve seen…the arbitrator took $30/hr from the top of the union proposed pay scale and put it at the bottom. Sure…that may attract new hires…but it also increases the number of people making $30/hr more(there are way more people at the lower end of the pay scale than top end). As of the latest seniority list, the pilot at 50% of the seniority list was hired March 2017.
How were the union pay rates top heavy?
The biggest thing you fail to see from the union proposal are work rules and other benefits…such as LTD and retirement.

Its straight from Kalitta payscales.
What I suggested earlier was that it was ironic how it took $30 off the top and awarded it to the lowest income group compared to the Union proposal that was intended to stifle hiring by keeping first year low.

Besides the earlier referenced items, a day less work a month, changes to the rig, paying distant learning based on the pilot's pay rate and not $150 for 4 hours for everyone.

Primarily, we wanted to get rid of the language in Article 1 that allowed the company to subvert section 6 negotiations per the RLA. We didn't get a vote on this CBA. We didn't get a vote on the last one that happened in 2011. Chances are, we may very well not get a vote on the next one in 5-10 years. On each of these occasions, the most important items of our contract were decided for us by an Arbitrator, whose decision was final and binding.

I'm not saying you shouldn't come here, but don't set all your hopes on fast movement.
