I pointed out their checked bag fee would eat the savings from a non stop airline I have status on. I was told the bag fee came out of a different account and didn't matter.

Thanks so much, Friend. It's a reasonable cost and schedule to commute from LAX to ANC if purchased properly and in-advance (provided I am awarded a 747 slot).

Great thanks again!

I have no idea if you are making the right decision or not, Braniff, but you are correct in saying Atlas is not a happy place. Come here knowing you will be involved in one of the biggest fights of your career. If you can't handle that, then Delta, Fedex, UAL, AA and others are all hiring and they already have good contracts. Fighting to simply maintain 30-40% less than industry average is depressing.

Hi,

I am interviewing on the 24th in NY and I am in the process of reading this entire thread.

Just a few questions so I know I have up to date information

747 vs 767 - How many hours are people crediting a month? (interested to hear from yr 1 or yr 2 pilots so I can know what to expect to pocket if I get assigned either fleet)

Regarding the 767, is it domestic only?

Is there any way to ask for the 767? (I think it might be better from a QOL perspective as I live on the east coast and commuting to ANC might prove tedious after the glamour wears off, despite my love affair with the 747)

Thanks!

I've been averaging credit wise around 120 a month on the 747, I usually will VX (volunteer) for an extra trip and work around 21 days

If you want the 767 you can usually get it. The way it worked last year was pilots who were awarded class dates were asked to put in a standing bid before they showed up, the bids were awarded in order by the last 4 of your SSN (0001 first 9999 last) and the 747 usually went senior. So if the last 4 of your SSN is a low number numerically you will probably have your choice of airplanes////Someone who recently went through the process please correct me if I'm wrong.

In 4 years on the 767, my average credit was 72 hours/month.

Rig usually beats hours flown for me. Fifteen to seventeen days days works to 72-80 hours a month

I don't know how you beat rig with actual hours flown and I'd hate to find out.. But the trip rig needs to be replaced with a daily rig.

Conservatively, I'd anticipate an additional tax liability on 6-8K of imputed income per year. What is the impetus for the office to shop the most economical fare (as i have skin in the game to pay for it)? Essentially, they are spending the money on your behalf, so is it all still a legal deduction?

Thanks in advance for the insight!

Commuting expenses are no more deductible than driving to work at an office job. Of course, many play fast and loose with the IRS and occasionally even get away with it, others get half million dollar fines!
