I'm just wondering with the parking of the -200s do any of us in the pool stand a chance of getting hired this year? I've been swimming wince September and am very anxious to get started at Atlas. My current regional is circling the drain and things are about to get bad. In my interview they asked what would I do if JetBlue called and well, they did. I'm in the hiring pool there as well but Atlas is definately my first choice. My current situation has deteriorated to the point where I really can't stay anymore. I'm almost thinking of starting at JetBlue and holding out hope that eventually Atlas will call for a class date but I'm not so sure anymore. What do you guys at Atlas think? Do you see more hiring on the horizon or will the -200 guys fill up all the upcoming slots?

Jobs are like upgrades ... never pass one up unless it's the absolute worst case scenario. So if you're at a regional and want to move on then move. Otherwise, you'll be there until it's time for someone else to make your decision for you.

Take it from a guy that used to fly turboprops at a regional before they made those silly CRJ's.

Good Luck

I think there will be new hire classes on the 76, but the question on how many will be answered by the displacement bid off the -200. Where will they all go? My money would be on most, but not all, going to the -400. If the above statement about the -200 being gone on Feb 29 is correct, I think we will know where everyone goes on or shortly after Feb. 15.

In addition to that, there is a strong rumor at North American that there are big changes coming on that property, parted out/sold/chapter 11 all on the table with a new CEO.

IMHO, one in hand is worth more than two in the bush. Do what you have to do.

I think you answered your own question...take the jetBlue class when it is offered, and if afterwards, Atlas calls with a class date, then the ball is in YOUR court...you make the decision at that time. Who knows, you might like it at jetBlue?!!

As for the circling-the-drain RJ job? You will have left that behind anyway when you go to jetBlue...If Atlas doesn't call, you'll be at jetBlue flying a light twin, like I just started at Atlas!!

Good luck...

Take the offer at JB, and as has already been said, then if Atlas does call, YOU will be in the position of making the decision to go to Atlas or stay at JB.

JetBlue.

Make the Atlas decision once you've had a taste of life at JetBlue.

You're a lucky man. There are a LOT of pilots that would love to be in your position. I'd say you've got the world by the balls right now.

One last bit of advice....go buy a lottery ticket, your luck is running high.

The same hedge fund group that bought ATA Airlines along with World and North American is in the process of dismantling World and North American will not be far behind sad but true.
