Talking Variety and motivation

They are clearly hiring from a variety of backgrounds, which I am pleased to see. And yes, they value international experiance. But at the same time I am flying with new guys with regional backgrounds, and was told by a MIA person that they find them to be highly motivated and to have solid stick and rudder skills.

So yes, there is hope.
Our current class is 7 civilian and 5 military. The civilian folks were North American and Omni. They all have other various backgrounds on other aircraft as well. I will never claim to know how the HR department determines who to hire but they did a great job with our class. We all have varied backgrounds but have come together great. We've begun our grill skills, heading out tonight for dinner, and have a great time in class as well. There are no 'bang-click folks'. As for the motivated comment above, that's a big affirmative. The class is fast and furious. You have to be willing to spend 8-10 hours a day in the books. The saying in the Air Force was they shove a 2.5 month course into 4 months. It's the complete opposite here - a 4 month course into 8 weeks. Come ready to study. Bring several highlighters and a laptop. And before you get here take the Rosetta Stone online Spanish course.

I was just getting ready to reply with I interviewed 5 Feb and have heard nothing yet, when the phone rang with a 914 area code. I'm in a 74 class on 11 March. You'll have to excuse my typos and grammar as I'm still shaking. Retired military KC-135, evaluator/instructor, Chief of Stan Eval, Chief of Safety, total 6700, pic 5300. I haven't grinned like this since my first flight of my RV-8. I look forward to meeting those in my class and thank everyone who has contributed to this forum. It has been invaluable. Good luck to everyone. Blue Skies

I know it's hard not knowing when the phone will ring, but from all indications they are simply lining up class dates prior to making the phone calls. Don't think they will call you to tell you didn't make the cut.

Congrats to docn788rv!
Didn't think they'd call if you didn't get it, but does anyone know if they notify you at all, by mail even, if you didn't get it?

Yes, but it varies from month to month. Sometimes snail mail, email, or FedEx, no rime or reason.

Congratulations, now go enjoy your weekend!

I just wrapped up my time in Miami and am heading home tomorrow. Fast and furious, especially on the short course, 4 weeks to the day from interview to checkride! All the instructors have been great to work with. I look forward to the line.
