Atlas Air Hiring
#5761
Sorry didn't mean to imply I was trying to take any time off. Just need to let the boss know if I need to reschedule a mandatory weekend. I'm just trying to get an idea if there are two days between Indoc and starting systems or right into it. Not trying to ruffle any feathers

No worries. No feathers ruffled I imagine.
My experience has always been that once I get my head in the game of training I was better off staying in that grove. No matter how good my intentions of studying while home it never really happened and it would take a few days to get back in the training mode upon return. Years ago I just came to the conclusion it was better to focus on that one thing until reaching the finish line. Of course that doesn't make it gospel for everyone.... Your mileage may vary.

I would stay in MIA and keep your head in the game and books.
Good luck!

One of the other issued you need to remember is that just because a "TX" (Training X day, as Atlas calls it) is placed on your line, doesn't mean it will stay that way...changes are a way of life at Atlas, and that includes while you are in training...any training course, new-hire, initial, transition, upgrade...any training, any line of flying, any line of reserves...change is a constant here.
Beware and be warned...it is not a good thing to go home for ANY reason. Others have already covered the reasons why not to do it...'nuff said on that.
Oh, did I say it already? Well, one more time won't hurt!! Change is a constant at Atlas...

We have had two people go home in our class that I know of. One to go to a wedding of their best friend, and one to buy a house (now that is what I call motivated, LOL). In both cases, it worked out fine, but I can also tell you that I personally had a number of changes to my schedule. Days off disappeared and relocated, and once, we had a time change to our schedule that wasn't noticed until 30 minutes after we were supposed to be there. It was all good though since the instructor didn't figure we got the word, and nobody was scheduled behind us.
We have a number of Guard and reserve folks in my class, and I think their prevailing attitude was that the military can wait. One problem at a time.

That must have been some "good news/bad news" conversation with his fiancee when the call came in!
