No, I'm not 767 current. However, when I got called for the interview, Kyle told me right now they are hiring for the 747, and the guys that have been offered a class date right away have gotten the 747 class. Do you think that will continue?

Since when did the number of motors denote heavy?

Classes have followed fairly quickly for those in the pool. New class every 3 weeks, so it depends on how many they took from the interviews.

It would depend on which airframe they have you slated for and then your overall score. You probably don't want to hear it, but the pool is competitive and there is no way to find out where you are in the line.

In the 3 years that they have been using this interview format the pool has been drained at least once a year or so. While it is technically possible to swim forever, I don't think it has happened.

Good luck.

Since never. Its a joke. The guys flying the biggest equipment on the property will often refer to the smaller airframe (such as in the case of the Atlas 767) as the scooter or the light twin or some such thing. When I told one of my Whale-driving buddies that I would be flying an A-320, he said "thats a cute little airplane". Its an example of "mine is bigger than yours" humor.

Light vs Heavy is a relative thing, right?

For the guy that drives the 747-400 (sorry, never got to fly the -8F at Atlas, since I made the move to the 767 Left Seat) anything less than 396T is a light airplane...even a 777F that comes in at around 345T.

Conversely, we regularly on the 767 call the 737s, A320s, light twins!!

Not sure if any magic is involved...mostly just smoke and mirrors. I suggest getting on the schedule more than the 10-15 hrs/month you describe. I've known squadron commanders who flew more than that!

... and over here in the Gucci crowd, we now divide our time between the "light 4x4" (aka the "new" classic) and the "Stretch Jet" (aka El Ocho Grrrande). Nice to finally graduate from that old -400 and its training fins!

Heard someone refer to the -400 as the "Glassic" thought that was clever

BayBum,
I interviewed on the 13th with amhess. I'm in the pool as well...I'm 767 typed and 757 current but not sure what to make of your comment. Are you thinking I'm in a longer wait until a 767 class rolls around?

Ahoy amhess, glad to be enjoying a swim with you.

Cheers
