Atlas Air Hiring
#5891
The nice lady I talked to didn't even ask about Oceanic crossings, she talked about the gateway system, the new pax charter business and reminded me that they have a LOT of applicants and to keep putting my resume in.
I brought a printed copy of my PAQ, so maybe she saw that I had 15+ oceanic crossings, I just didn't get that "we'd love to have you at Atlas" feeling. I temper the feeling with, it was late in the afternoon and they were probably starting to get wore down.

I got the same aloof vibe. I was kind of disappointed as this was the sole reason I came. I made a beeline there and was the first one to their booth Friday morning and left feeling unsure about the exchange.
Like I said, she didn't mention the crossings to me. But waiting in line for the others and chatting guys up it was mentioned several times that they were told that.
Would explain why I haven't seen any RJ-drivers get an interview since they started interviewing again the first of the year.

Not true, I interviewed on March 12th, with 1 Eagle guy and 1 Expressjet guy. And I spoke to another guy that interviewed on the 13th that was an RJ guy as well. So far the only one I know of that was offered a class from my interview day was the one from Expressjet.

Yeah, Atlas takes a cross section of pilots, I don't think they exclude regional guys, they should definitely apply.
Again, the lady I talked to was very nice, but I didn't learn anything new about Atlas that I didn't already know. I won't go so far as to say I got the cold shoulder, but I sure didn't get a warm fuzzy either.
Wait, I take that back! I did learn you can bid to break up your 17 days on, so for guys who were not interested in 17 straight days away from home, the recruiter told me you can bid to break it up. I'm sure some Atlas guys will pipe up here to say whether that's legit or not, but that's what she told me.
Either way, it's some varied and exciting flying, and sounds great!

I'd recommend NOT setting your sights on that as a new hire, and therefore, you won't be disappointed if you only get those lines...if you (and your life at home) can't hack that schedule, think twice (ten times, actually) about coming here.
Good luck.

Breaking up the 17-day schedules is a hit and miss proposition...seniority, base, equipment, and seat, are factors (as you certainly know). First two in my list likely most important...

I am AF C-17/C-141/C-21 pilot retiring next year. I was impressed with Atlas crew and mission (BWI/ETAR/OKBK) enroute to my deployment. I have since found this site and will return via Atlas this weekend. On the way over, I had some great conversations with the flight attendants but want to talk with the front end on the way back. Any suggestions on finding opportunities to talk with a pilot either on the plane or at our 2-3 hr stopover in ETAR. Job seems to be almost exactly like what I've done for most of my flying career--fly jets around the world at a moments notice to a variety of locations...always changing. I am prepping my application and want to know more. Thanks.

Are there any magic numbers for 6 or 12 months time. I just got re-qualified in C17 after several years of staff and can retire next year. I am logging about 10-15 hrs a month. 90 percent of my ocean crossings were before 2004.
