Don't think you're alone.

I had ten thousand hours, six type ratings, heavy, worldwide, overwater, yadda, yadda. Took me eight months to get the call. Meanwhile, they were hiring regional guys with less of those specific quals.

Turns out that they like to hire a broad cross section of backgrounds. It is not at all just about the numbers on your resume. It is about getting well qualified pilots who really know the company, really want to work here, and are really great people to get stuck in the cockpit with for those loooong trips.

They also have a lot of resumes to choose from. Hang in there and be ready for the phone call upon first contact because they also like applicants who are ready when called. Oh, and they also seem to like folks who have a lot of patience...

Keep trying.

Oh how I love hearing heavy guys complain about RJ guys getting hired. Maybe a quality RJ pilots have is humility and not thinking they deserve a job. Just a thought.

To me, it didn't sound like DC8DRIVER was complaining. I sounded like his observation while he was waiting patiently. Personally, I'm happy Atlas is hiring folks from various backgrounds. My observation on the line tells me it's working quite well.

Maybe that didn't come across as I had intended.

At the time, I couldn't understand why I wasn't getting called because my quals were so much like the flying that Atlas does.

Now (and what I intended to imply) I understand it is not only about the quals - everybody Atlas hires is well qualified from corp to RJ to mil to furloughed cargo guys like me - but it seems to be more about the quality of the person and not so much about hours or the equipment.

I'm a fun guy! Come on Atlas, give me a call!

There were several co-workers from my former job that got called in rapid succession, then it came to a screeching halt. Like you said, I guess they are trying to get a good cross-section of the market. I was just outside of that cross-section for the moment.

It's ok 8, didn't really mean to stir the pot, but just couldn't resist I think you hit it spot on. A cross section is what they are hiring. And I must say they have been pretty good a picking people.

Can any current atlas guys that know how to use our FedEx discount please pm me. I tried following the instructions on GlobalNet but I guess that doesn't work. Now we need an account #, not just a discount code.
(Sorry I know this doesn't belong in the hiring thread but this gets the most Atlas eyes!)

I just take my ID with me and go to the FedEx office. I use Atlas and my employee number as account number.

That doesn't work here in shanghai. The FedEx people have no idea what I'm talking about. They need a account number.
