Just wondering, someone brought up Mil Leave earlier and the question was not answered, as far as I could tell. Is Atlas military leave friendly? My unit will have to deploy next year for possibly 179.

What is the good and bad about whether you get the 200 or 400?

As an F/O, you're locked on the type you're hired on to till upgrade. Company can unlock you if they want to. Classics run under 121.483/521 so up to 12 hours in the seat but you should get about half the landings. On 400s you can only be in the seat 8 but you may only get 1 or 2 landings a month, some F/Os have to hit the sim for landings. But the rest areas and galley are better except on the converted freighters. The classics do more military work and were doing most of the South America trips but the 400s go to SA a lot now too. And the 400s do AMC trips too.

I was one of about 50 FO's last year to get the 400 transition course...the 200s were overstaffed and the 400s understaffed.

Pay is the same!! And as a new hire, I'm not sure I would care...or be too picky!!

However, after spending many years on the Classic, I can honestly say the 400 QoL is great. As for landings, I get about 2 per month. But you do have to plan it carefully if you are in a vacation month. I have also been doing a lot of IOE support for new-hire FOs since June. For example, I have to get a landing before the 8 January, or it is the sim for me!!

Some of you RJ guys don't quite get that but when you fly long haul...ORD-PVG (15hours approx) there is 1 Captain, and 3 FO's, and (of course) only one can get the TO and Landing.

However, the first thing a Captain asks in the van to the airplane...Who needs a landing? Most Captains are mindful of the FO's landing requirements. Of course, the next question is...Who gets the bunk first?!!

Ahhhhhh! Haven't seen/heard anything, so I guess I either still have a chance, or the bad news is in the mail. Either way, good luck to those who have gotten the call, should be a fun ride!

Anybody know if usually all the hiring calls go out at once? (Should I even hold my breath?)

Any personal or company speculation on what impact the new FAA rest reg will have, if and when it goes in effect?
