Atlas Air Hiring

Hi!
"Trip Rig" it is, but it is a daily rate, vs. so much pay for so many hours.
From what I was told, each day you will get "X" pay credit. The only time you will not be paid your daily rig rate is if you are assigned "Home Reserve", which is where you sit at home, but are on call. Atlas' Bases are not like AA/UAL bases. The Bases do not mean too much. You may fly a number of rotations/trips and never go to your base at all. We travel from "Gateways", which is not Home Basing, but is more similar to Home Basing than anything else.

Well Cliff, I hope that you are correct, but it is all speculation at this point.
We don't have any language currently to describe what you are talking about. We don't have "Home Reserve". We have Resident Standby, Base Standby, and Forward Reserve.
The "company" is not interested in Home Basing as it has already been proposed by the pilot group.

What "I" was told from the horse's mouth, "we" owe 17 days. Of those 17 the only ones that do not generate (4.85, I think that was the number) hours per day is Resident Standby.
"Period, NO exceptions."
Now, we can only hope that is correct because the silence from the Teamsters is defining.

Current link to the ICAO MNPS oceanic manual. Used to be at NAT-PCO.org, but that link appears to be broken. If you have access to DOD's Area Planning (AP2 has the most info), there is some good reading there as well. If you go to the DINS NOTAM webpage, there are lots of good links over on the right side of the page as well. Hope that helps.

Excellent thread. Have gained much insight via this forum. Currently "preferentially hired" and looking for some more info. I have seen the 17 day battle-got it. The CBA looks promising-any idea on when it might finally become complete/official? Are first year hires getting only the minimum 50hrs or is it more common to get 70-80hrs? Will the CBA affect this first year guarantee (have also seen the rig debate, but unsure of first year implications).
Also, I understand there were interviews in December and some planned in January-any idea of when next couple of class dates will be? Do they run more than one class at a time (staggered)? Sounds like hiring might continue through 2011-thoughts?
Is it accurate to say that in training you can expect ~ $1200 monthly (taxable) and ~ $1650 monthly for per diem (non-taxable)? How much does a family kind of guy pay for insurance (health/dental/vision) when on the line? What is best method for staying in contact with stateside folks as far as communication options?
Sorry for the question barrage. Maybe answers will help others as well. Cheers!

New contract, June, maybe (WAG).
No info on first year stuff w/ new contract. Don't hold your breath.
Latest base bid has 58 NH (new hire) openings, we will be hiring thru 2011.
Your numbers for training pay look right. I have just the wife, and pay about $30 a month out of pocket for good insurance, including eye, and dental.
SKYPE is the primary source for USA contact. Some guys have bought international phones for better contactability.
They will start classes three weeks apart. So they can be running 3 classes at a time. This can be more if they are running a classic class as well, which it looks like we'll be needing.
