Not to take away from substantive questions...744Dposer(smile): 50 is the new 27. I'll pass along my flashcards.

Now back to the grind...

Sorry to respond so late. Been so busy with IP school.

What I mean is, I'm used to trips just popping up a few days out, people scrambling for them, entire trips being cancelled, money not being there to pay you for a trip, etc.

If you give me a trip, then change the definition of the trip, I still have a trip. That rule does not apply in my current world.

Cargo is cargo. There will always be fluctuations and changes. But I won't be living week to week, constantly looking a few days out for a trip, trying and fighting to make it on a trip to make a pay check. That's what I mean by seeing a schedule on paper and having that as my trip.

That's more like it.

If you read this before you go in, best advice is to relax and be yourself. Be polite to everyone and ask good, relevant questions when given the opportunity. And demonstrate knowledge of the company (stock, exec management, fleet, etc.; not just the schedules)

Good luck today!

Probably ought to send along the bifocal glasses as well. You know the old peepers aren't what they used to be when you pass the half century mark!

Actually, it won't be on paper unless you choose to print it out. It'll be on a company issued tablet that chirps and beeps at you that you'll come to despise. But it has purdy colors on it.

Are things like the retirement benefits or long haul schedules (lack of sleep) or pay a big enough deal where you would consider moving to another carrier if the opportunity was there? Really I'm wondering, if UPS, United, Delta offered you a job, would you take it no question, or would it be a hard decision and a serious possibility you would say "no thanks"?

This is really one question, I'm being a little wordy. Trying not to upset anybody, just very much curious and serious.
Since I'm an Atlas guy in my 30's, I have asked every single Atlas pilot that looks under 40 in the past year this same question. I would say just over 2/3rd's of the people I spoke with are going to leave when they have the chance. Ive been surprised honestly. Atlas only matches 5% in the 401k (less than my bottom feeder regional I came from). UAL gives* you 16% and DAL 14% of your salary into an account all your own. UAL second year pay is basically the same as Atlas', DAL actually higher, but with a higher guarantee, plus line guarantee. These things matter to the younger pilots who do not have a military pension supplementing their "career" at Atlas. Within the next 5 years, you will see a lot of movement in the bottom 1/2 of the seniority list (remember, 50% of the list IS NOT Capts at Atlas like you see at other companies, more like 35%), and roughly 30 a year in retirements to affect the entire list. You should be able to move up the F/O list but stagnate as you approach the slowly retiring older Captains.

Just came back from the interview process and boy was it a positive experience. Having never been through an interview, it was really great to be treated so well and put at ease right away. Everyone was so personable and nice.

The day went just like I've read with the different parts of the interview process. No real surprises there at all.

This thread was a big help and the advice offered by you guys was an even bigger help. I felt really prepared going in, and very confident. Thanks so much to all of you guys and gals who have contributed to this thread, and to me personally. I really appreciate it.

Now, I just hope that it pays off and I get "that" phone call in a week or so, not the "other" phone call. LOL!

user name look up error;
when jepps app locks up and crashes;
when you chase the pcd by turning it but the screen can't keep up with your movements;

And finally

You give up because you know your iPad will work better and last longer.

If the new iPad has a finger print scanner do you think IT would switch or approve those?
