If you look on Google you can find an interview with Neeleman from a year or two ago discussing how 20 of the A220s will be a yet-to-be-announced LR version with 4,000nm range with an ACT (I’ll try to find the article). I think he mentioned Europe, Deep South, and Hawaii in that article (or maybe it was somewhere else).

edit: here’s one of the articles https://aeronewsglobal.com/airbus-a2...-the-pipeline/

I think they’re in for a big surprise if they think they’ll be able to staff their 220’s with pilots who have a lot of international experience.

Apparently there’s a lot of Cathay guys who want to get back to America and can’t get hired by any ALPA represented airlines who are willing to fly it.

I am quite certain he will talk a lot more about it. Talk and talk, they will write songs and stories about it for months and months. Then just like the initial launch, they will announce something lame, like Tampa to Albuquerque.

So how is the overall morale and feel about the company from a pilots point of view? Also, what are the benefits like..401 match?

supposedly the last 20 ordered will have that option, as a model number that does not exist for the A220 was said at one point during a company wide meeting… however it likely will be retrofitable to earlier planes as well.

however, Hawaii and Europe are within range of the A223 already, especially with our international config.

Any idea when A220 CQFOs that are interviewing now, will go to training?

A220 Pilot pool was started in August. Waiting for training slots to be assigned.

That is always the case at any startup in any industry. That unbridled optimism is intoxicating. It will mature…
