Edit: but get your app in. If you don’t have your app in, you certainly will not get hired wether or not you have a single hour in a jet or 10,000.
Thanks for the feedback

Absolutely. Now is the time to build your application. If you haven’t already, build a spreadsheet about your entire work, address, and education history as well with start and end dates for place you lived, worked, and took a class from.

This will make building your application easy. Once you have it submitted and built, just update regularly.

In fact my ULCC right now looks at PIC as a detriment and thinks it makes you more likely to be un trainable or have bad habits. A320 type trumps cl-65 or EMB-175 pic right now. Plus all 3 majors already fly the bus, less chance you’ll fail.
This isn’t data, this is opinion and anecdotal statements. Nothing wrong with opinion, everyone has them. Why is it that UA is hiring AA rj folks right and left if every rj ca hurts every legacy’s feed? Is it possible that your ULCC looks negatively at PIC because they think, with the sub-par pay and QOL, the rj ca/lca will be gone in no time? I can see the opinion that a 15k hour ca may be more inclined to be more difficult to mold to the new SOPs, but viewing your typical younger rj CA/LCA, who’s showed continued improvement and progression as untrainable..?

My own anecdotal evidence still shows legacy classes being filled with rj CAs/LCAs. Obviously this well will begin to dry up, so yes, requirements will continue to shift - degree, pic, etc. But to state as fact that RJ fo to ULCC fo is the better way to a legacy isn’t supported at all.

Even after the interview with United, I was told to change a couple things on my app to make them more clear. So yeah you can change things at any time.

I agree I've seen little indication of predatory hiring practices (targeting specific competitors' pilots) in the years I've been in the industry. Closest I've seen is the legal workaround of a certain regional paying bonuses for "united express experience"

Paying a bonus for a type rating has a good business justification... probably not going to fail out of training with time in type.

OP, before this turns into a regional CA vs. ULCC FO discussion understand that as mentioned, it's extremely important to get your app in ASAP. Times have changed and there is no magic number where you may receive a call. Submit the app and update. In the mean time as you build hours, get involved in a union (if you have one), volunteer, and find ways to progress your career. I've talked to a lot of recruiters and friends in hiring and what they really want to see is career progression. Regional FO -> Regional CA -> Regional LCA is a strong resume. But with the hiring industry now, Regional FO -> ULCC FO/ACMI FO is also a viable resume, not including all the extras like education, volunteer work, etc.

Submit your apps now, but more importantly make sure they're accurate and correct. Having addresses and work history 100% accurate now makes life down the road a lot easier.

Well I had never heard the thing the reviewer mentioned about delta. So I would just ask them about each airline. In my mind it was always best to submit an app as soon as I met mins then update and apply every chance I got to show interest. But like I said, never heard about that delta thing you mentioned.

if someone with less than 1000 hours turbine/121 time is getting interviews. Seems like you should submit as soon as you meet the mins.

That said, should I be submitting my apps now or waiting until I have the 1000 hours turbine?

I asked this question to the company/individual who reviewed my apps and it was a little unclear to me. Example: I was told with Delta if your app gets reviewed and you don’t get an interview you have to wait another year. I interpreted that as - don’t submit your apps until you’ve got at least the 1000 hours turbine.

Thanks.
Put them in at all majors. Heck, even pick only the ones you don't have to commute for. Upside - CJO, Downside - ummmmm....
Its a new paradigm

What about UPS and FedEx? Since they specifically ask for 1000TPIC.
