Flight Attendant to Pilot

Well not to offend Lilli but UAL was notorious after losing a consent decree hiring females and blacks with next to no time. Do not know if this is the case today.. My cousin was a USCG C-130 pilot search and rescue and a Coast Guard grad from the academy and UAL told him to pound it and hired a female with 600 hrs flying DC-3's who was an Embry Riddle grad. My cousin is a 737 capt for Alaska Airlines now.

Yes, we ALL know the stories.
Not sure what your post has to do with the thread, but BOTH I knew that got hired via intercompany transfer were WM's.

Here's another "ugly head". to the original poster: I like that you are enthusiastic about aviation! Now take that enthusiasm, and remember it ALWAYS. This is the best that you will ever feel about aviation. It is all down hill from here. That "love" will fade. Not to be a debby downer, but being a pro pilot ain't all it is cracked up to be. If you wanna always love aviation, don't make a career out of it.

I want to +1 HMP's sentiments. Many people are surprised when I tell them that the main reason I do this job is for the pay, schedule, and benefits. The key word is job. Sure, this line of work is much better than a lot of other things I could be doing, but at the end of the day it is a job. A very good job but a job nonetheless.

I don't think you are a debby downer HMP, I think you are a realist - and I wish more people had your attitude.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out. Unfortunately, UA didn't select me. I made it through all the rounds of interviews, but I have a feeling I shouldn't have mentioned the fact that my long term goal is to become a pilot, to the male 20 year FA veteran that interviewed me last. I thought I was being honest, but I could tell his tone changed when I said that. Maybe he felt I wasn't serious about the position. Live and learn! On to the next. Thanks again!

It's all about keeping expectations real, as well as managing said expectations.
And often times, you can expect it to be just J-O-B JOB. I don't really want to do any other job.
