Gcpilot....check the pages of good advice and legal opinions that are already posted on this subject. For one, I'm too tired of the same question to wade in again.

Pass me a Guiness please Mate.

Thanks

I do not even have a PPL but have done quite some research about aviation industry in the US and Asia hoping to become an expat contract pilot.

During my reading, I stumble on topics and regs that I am not familiar with so I use this forum to get answers from helpful, supporting aviators on this forum.

Before I spend over 50k for training and sacrifice time, personal relationships and other dear things in life; I want to be confident enough to enter the world of aviation with my eyes wide open. I am trying to gather as much information and advice as possible so that I have a clear understanding of what I am getting myself into.

Before getting into the world of expat flying, I will have to pay my dues at the regionals like all of us have. One of the hiring factors of expat hiring is PIC time; hence the question.

If you don't even have a Private yet, the airline landscape will change dramatically by the time you are qualified for (almost) all overseas jobs.

Yes Sir, I do understand that the landscape will change drastically so I also have a backup plan to fall back upon. I will be doing the training without any loans from my savings so that I will not have any sword hanging over my head. I have described my situation and aspirations in my other threads so I will not go into very details and stick with the relevant.

I am guessing some sarcasm here

I am very familiar with our own skyhigh of this forum. There is a lot of negativity on this as well as other airline forum. There are a lot of people who are not finding jobs after taking out a loan for over 50k for training, there are a lot of people stuck at regionals waiting on upgrades for number of years, there are pilots ta majors who are thinking of greener pastures in Dubai or China. There are whole lot of people with a whole lot of problems.

Every industry has problems and the person who is determined to focus on his assets rather than ponder about his liabilities has more chances of succeeding. I still remember that couple of years ago when I was thinking of aviation as a career, I was instantly discouraged from the posts and negativity on this and other threads but a lot of reading, research and wise advice from people on this forum helped me see through the fog.

As always, I am very thankful to all the aviators on this forum who are providing suggestions, advice to newbie like me.
