The OP's been with EK for 10 years now. I'm sure he can autoland an A380 with the best of them, but his stick and rudder are not as good as a below average regional FO.

You don't get better skills flying long haul but good pilots don't become bad pilots either because they're long haul pilots.

You might have a bit of an issue for now. You are way overqualified for the LCCs and will bail for the majors given the first chance. They know that you are high risk and are not that desperate for pilots - yet !!So getting a call from many of them might take a while.
Regionals don't give a hoot, cause it either having you for at least a year or two or parking another aircraft. Now it's up for you to decide if it's worth taking an over $150K paycut, being on reserve and possibly going back to crashpads, commuting in hopes of maybe one day a legacy will call. This financially and morally can put you way behind in life and bring major stress for nothing.
I suggest to stay put, bank as much as you can (you will need it when you come back) and beef up that resume. Get your TRE/TRI if you can or get into the hiring departmentor safety and volunteer. I've lived in Dubai and Abu before and they host many international charity events , so sign up for them.
Majors will call for sure, it's pure supply and demand and just be patient, work on that resume (diversify) and be smart in your decisions don't rush! Good Luck !

You were hired at USAirways. Different team of pilot recruiters; how likely would you be to get hired at any of the 3 remaining legacies with your resume? UAL would likely not give you a second look from what I've seen and I doubt that you could get an interview today at AA - you even said the same not long ago.
It probably never will.
At least at the US Airways new hire classes were split in 1/3 mil, 1/3 flow and 1/3 civilian. Now with the AA taking over hiring, it has gone 50%+ mil with 50% civi that includes flows. Bunch of crap of you ask me. So, if you are on off the street non-military you chances of getting a call for an interview are now very low.
Just think, if you are a non-military white male under 40...you get to go to the back of the line.
