K4 Pilots Declaration Of Independance !

Colt, please do 2 things for me. First, provide flight numbers and dates so I can look at MISA and pull up the information. I will post the results on here to verify the veracity of your complaints. Second, please volunteer for the scheduling committee. You seem to have a nose for sniffing out problems with our scheduling department. Perhaps you can be an effective part of the change you and other pilots want. I look forward to hearing from you via private message with the dates and flight numbers. Please contact Captain Owen or Captain Nelson to be put on the scheduling committee. Thanks for volunteering. Appreciate you giving your time to our Union

Does anyone know if the new award will address only scheduled duty day or will it become a drop dead thing.
I suspect it will only be scheduled that is awarded. In that case all the contract language in the world will not prevent going over 24 when it is not scheduled.

Is that scheduled or because of unforeseen circumstances?

The other agreed to 2 man and 3 man have that language
We will see when its released by the arbitrator

Interesting, bearing in mind that Connie appears to be taking over the remaining TK contract from Atlas. This kind of bears out my original point that this unprecedented duty day gives a huge commercial advantage when bidding for contracts. The argument that it was necessary to avoid layovers in Bagram etc appears flawed as it is obviously being applied to civilian contracts to a large extent and will probably loom large in your future too. Atlas and everyone else would burn two complete crews with hotels and associated positioning costs to fly that rotation. I'm certain that the gross incompetence and disarray that is Atlas Air these days means we are more than capable of losing contracts on our own. However forgive us for not whole heartedly supporting your push for a life curtailing duty day.

A TK rep was saying that the decision was "mutual" between Atlas and TK to draw down the Atlas presence.

These long days are due to being short on crews. generally, and as I have done in the past, these trips can easily be done within 16 or 18 hours. However per above often a 3rd leg is put on a double crew so a new double crew can do the rotation back to IST taking the duty day to close to or just over 24 hours, mainly due to TK inability to function efficiently.

Thanks for the update. The way things are going at Atlas I'm sure several of our customers would like to "mutually" cancel their contracts. I have a feeling you guys may be expanding significantly next year if you can get some more airframes on the property. All the best!

Atlas is bursting at the seams with Asian contracts. These are high dollar deals with Asiana, NCA, Cathay, DHL, etc. These are premier companies, and Atlas will see less and less secondary people, like TK and Astral (Africa flying). Atlas, like it or not, will be the number one solution for Pacific Rim cargo. Our fight with management is mostly about how much management and shareholders take profits away from the pilot group (much like UPS). Kaliitta and the rest are free to take those second tier contracts. The pilots should be fighting tooth and nail to keep Connie from getting a competitive advantage on these contracts, which are not Atlas friendly contracts. Long duty days put them in competition with Western Global, Skylease, etc.
