Just curious, does one have to bid for AMS, or can a person simply designate it as their home base? Is there a limited number of spots available?

You can designate it as your home base. No bid required and as of now, no limit on the slots.

Like what kind of update are you looking for ? Facts or rumors ? 😊 The airline profile is mostly accurate, except the fleet size (now 4 747 and 17 MD11 registered). The pay is accurate, ESOP is real, international basing is available with ICN, DXB, AMS, BOG. Most of the flying is currently Asia, (PR China, HKG, Vietnam), some domestic (ORD, LCK, HSV, LAX) and a bit of Europe and middle east. 777 are coming and all required activities to introduce a new fleet have started.

Are they open to other international bases as well or just those 4?

If APC pay is accurate... Captains are grossing 10k a month? 401(k)? Quick Upgrade or Direct Entry possible for experienced heavy drivers? Union?

Minimum guarantee is 17 days. Day 18 and above is 200% pay. Currently tons of open flying, so you can basically fly as many days as you like, if pay is your priority. Some Captains gross close to 20k and more. 401 (k) is still a bit on the weak side (5%, 2,5 match). No further international bases as of now, but things change quickly. No Direct Entry Captains right now, but again this could change with the ongoing personnel shortage. Union is ALPA. No contract yet.

Sounds pretty decent. Is the 20k gross based on just 17 days? Or is that with guys working overtime? 20k is very much in line with what other ACMIs are paying their captains for 15-16 day stints, so if it's 17 days it's reasonable, if it's for a full month it's very much on the low side. Though I expect an eventual contract to course correct that fairly well.

The other guys may be making $20k for 17 days, but they fly 90 block hours in that time. My average for the last 2 years is 65 block hours a month and I average 19 to 20 days a month (2 of them are travel days). Upgrade in your second year is a real possibility if you have the 121 time show the ability. Now is a good time to come to WGA. A second year Captain makes $13K at 2 years for 17 days and you are probably flying under 60 block hours a month. For the next 4 years, the company is contractually obligated to contribute many millions of dollars a year to the employee stock ownership program. I don’t know if the amount is covered by a non disclosure agreement, so that why I am not disclosing the number. I’ll just say that after this months ESOP contribution, most Captains will have far more than $200K worth of company shares in their individual account. Keep checking back. Something BIG is looming for us.

Is this a sales job? First year FOs at other ACMI carriers can out earn your hypothetical 2nd year captain by a wide margin. But I’m sure Neff will treat you right…..

That's a very weak flex, most ACMI captains flying AMC missions these days are blocking 20-40 hours a month and doing 20k without a single day of OT. Guys who do the full month are pulling 35-50k. WGA has potential, but the current pay is not something to be proud of or even justifiable.
