My personal best is 140.000 miles on DLH while doing ACMI in Spain living in DC. Took 5 months...

What’s the typical career path for a K4 new hire? Are most guys coming over from major pax ops (AA, UA. DAL, etc.)? Other?

Most people come from either the regionals, military, or other random heavy operators. We have a handful that came from corporate.

Typical career path? FO for a few years, upgrade to CA, and then if you choose LCA or sim instructor a few years after that. Make money, throw it in the air, and roll in it.

I highly doubt anybody is coming over from AA/DL/UA. My indoc class last month was a mix of seven regional/international airlines and three corporate

We've had guys go back to AA, hate it, and come back. Most mainline pax pilots scoff at the idea of going to an ACMI. In their mind they are at their destination airline already. Why would they leave? We hire corporate, regional, 135, ACMI, military, and foreign carrier pilots mostly. Many have heavy types on Boeing and Airbuses. Quite a few of them were check pilots, instructors, chief pilots, D.O.'s, etc at their previous employer.
I am glad I got in when I did.

You are correct, have talked to others that dearly miss it.

From guys who knew him at AA, Pretty sure it was more of a “hey, why don’t you resign from AA before you get fired” than a “hated it and came back” . Of course, he is another one of the “big personalities” in the training department and was somehow allowed to fly the line as an out of seniority Captain.
