The issue is the MEC refusing to represent the will of the majority of the membership.

Doesn't matter what the side issues are, the main issue is that we pay these guys to represent us, not blatantly disregard our wishes and go their own way.

They all need to go.

Any of you pro change, pro ALPA guys who think that there is any unity left in this crewforce are smoking some serious crack. Its too late to fix it, welcome to 4800 independent contractors.

Excuse me while I go hawk open time for some disputed pairings.

Did our MEC fight to protect their members? What members are you refering to and fight for what?

You were already told ALPA wans't on the Property during the deregualtion Fight, 1978 or about. If ALPA would have been on FDX property then, they (FDX MEC) would have had a vote. The outcome might and probably would have been the same.

Same thing goes for Cabotage and open skies. Most PAX ALPA carriers are against it flat out. Open skies will probably benefit us FDX (at least initially) while it will probably have more negative effects on our US PAX ALPA bothers and sisters. So what is your point.........

Multiple Widebodies? Not sure what your point is here either?
Common Pay rates pehaps?

You need to either check the dosage on your medication or just pull your head completely out of your arse.

You make about as much sense as my wife.

Do you not see that there is no correlation between what ALPA did in the 1970's concerning FedEx and what they're doing now? We are part of ALPA now, FedEx was not then. ALPA supported their members on deregulation.

And actually, I can have it both ways. I was adamantly opposed to deregulation in the 1970's. But, I'm also happy that my latest airline(FedEx) is very profitable.

Things change, that was my point.

You, I think, were attempting to make the point that "ALPA national" tried to screw us back then. As if it somehow relates to what they're doing now. It's apples and oranges.

But, if I recall correctly, did they not change their position to pro-deregulation, so they could be a part of the group at the table crafting the wording?

This is the ALPA message line for MAY 26, 2012.

After several years of difficult negotiations with Fedex Corporation, the MEC has held several days of meetings with your negotiating committee. We have made a strategic decision to have the negotiating committee "do the right thing!" We have agreed to a TA with the company that we unanimously believe satisfies the desires of the crew force. Below are some of the highlights. We know that there may be some resistance to a change of the retirement age, so we will provide you with some results we received from our latest Wilson Ctr Polling. While 91% of the pilots are against raising the retirement age in our current contract, 95% of our pilots said that they were willing to ratify a contract that did not meet 100% of their desires. Further, while 96.2% have agreed to a strike vote, a smaller majority of 76% have said that having a TA within the next 3 mos was desirable. As you will see, these were difficult priorities to balance, but the MEC has shown tremendous leadership......................................

You are correct about Cabotage in regard to FedEx. Kill it and protect UAL,DAL,NWA or let it happen and create 2-3000 additional pilot jobs at FedEx.
