ABX Air Latest

UPS/FedEx, people want to work their for the rest of their lives, they have leading pay, retirements, they are final destination airlines. In this forum, we are not talking about a final destination airline.
But hey, I get it. I've done my fair share of asking for rides, which is why I went back to 135/DOD work for the last 11+ years. I can find nothing worse in life than checking loads, showing up at 6am to start schlepping for a ride knowing that on the list of priority, step-great grandchildren from some old crusty mainline guys 4th marriage, ride before I do on a flight that is sold at 110%. So, if I do come back to 121, it'll nice to know what time I have to be at the airport, to hop on like any other Dick or Jane. That carries a lot of water for me.

*I do understand many trips at Purple and Brown start and end with travel arrangements and that’s awesome, but not all. I only use the search function to adjust ours and make things better if needed.

I really don’t understand why people cannot accept that different people have different things that appeal to them. When it comes to home basing some people love it and to some it just doesn’t matter. Neither one is wrong it is a personal choice. It is really sad that some are so insecure with their life choices that they have to shame others for not having the same view as they have. It is of course fair to point out which airlines have home basing and which do not. Some groups chose to place part of their compensation into home basing while others place those dollars in other areas, retirement or soft money for schedule integrity (for example). Both of those concepts and priorities are valid and based on each individuals personal situation one is more appealing than the other. Why people have to tear down others to try and satisfy their insecurities is sad. Different strokes for different folks.

It's kinda funny that for most, their ultimate goal is to get on at: Delta, United, AA, SWA, Alaska, UPS, and FDX....none of which are home-based. Of course they are willing to make the bulk of their career changing bases, aircraft, commuting, or living in a hub city. You have to step down (skipping regionals) ACMI and Charter airlines before you get to the home based argument. The places where some remain commuting till the end and some cherish tickets, some attempt to have more retirement/scheduling since none of them can compare to biggies.
Since this is the ABX Latest thread, I will add to it their most recent announcement of additional (4) aircraft in the DHL system. Surely these acquisitions are from Kalitta moving out of the 767 DHL domestic ops, thereby bringing ABX to a 6 aircraft expansion during the 2022 year. Movement is a good thing (even for a domiciled airline!).

Hold up, time out. I get it with you guys defending not having home base and all that Jazz. We aren’t going to try to sit here compare commuting with ABX with CVG as it’s only domicile in comparison to legacy, ULCCs, FedEx, UPS who offer multiple bases/travel banks/better flight/jumpseat options for commuting purpose. Come on guys, it’s not like retirement or pay is heads and heels about you immediate competitors…..

Apologies if it was too strong of a vote, argument or full court press on the ease of tickets/hotels covered. As mentioned in my post it’s just my take, maybe should have ended all the statements with “just speaking for myself” to fully disclose this was only my take and a very high priority for myself and myself alone. I even added just how lazy I am, self deprecation wasn’t enough and a complete fail on my part. Will further communicate that you are so right - Different strokes for different folks! Everyone has their priorities and they should chase them until fulfilling them as much as possible. Honestly, every flyer coming on board with our ACMI outfit who dreams of wearing the polo of the any Big 3 and or FedEx/UPS I wish them the best and hopefully they arrive at their career destination. Always better to fly with the up beat or at least satisfied vs the miserable minds of mayhem; I want them to be happy but we’re pilots and we’ll always whine long after the engines shutdown…
