Interesting phone call

we should use it...as has been told MGMT has been observing this forum for some time..while i enjoy joking and tackling an occasional issue from time to time this cargo section has become a place for anyone to see our dirty laundry(and some names and employee #s)..we should move some of this material to the ALPA board..i'm chilling on this LOA stuff..back to the jokes for me...
oh yeah foxhunter is being investigated too....someone in MGMT found his birth certificate and it said he was born in 1905

It would sure be nice to have these town meetings before we get to this point on an issue. A town meeting prior to union ratification of this LOA, might have given the union an idea of where we stand on it. Maybe then, they would think twice about bringing a substandard LOA to us and having to try to sell it like a kirby vacuum cleaner, after the fact.
This thing is going to pass, I hate to say it. Too many suckers who don't give a damn.

My 2 cents. Couple of random thoughts
Ask any MD-11 F/O who has done the DH to HKG with ground transportation to SZX. I beleive the union may have even disputed it at one time. That is only about one hour long. Totally stinks. Now imagine tripling it in going to work. Plus, you realize you have to pass through immigration everytime you go to and from work. Fun, fun, fun. Everytime you fly what type of state-of-mind do you think you will be in?
They are going to fill the FDAs with some "suckers" wanting quick upgrades whether or not the LOA passes. It is just how much FedEx wants the FDAs to be successful. The reason Subic works now is the relative low turnover. So a lot of the experience and know how stays in Subic (ie they get the job done in less than ideal circumstances). That is not going to be the case with HKG and CDG.
Finally, for those with children. I know the allowances stink, but you will never get enough for a "2000 sq ft home" and education. It is city living. Just like if you lived in NYC. You have to make due.
By the way, for what it is worth. I am voting no. We should at least get COLA commensurate with the Federal Government.

Plus, anyone know how the traffic is going through immigration from Mainland to HKG. Usually it is pretty light going from HKG to mainland. At least everytime I have done it. Just wondering if it is like USA-Mexico. No traffic going to Mexico, but can be 3-4 hours going to USA depending on time.

Please don't assume that because it's a closed ALPA website that management won't be reading what goes on over there too. We have enough MINOs (Members in Name Only) who will forward anything written there straight to management.
Not suggesting we don't move... just suggesting that there's no "cover" there. Less, in fact... no figleaf of a screenname.

Gentlemen,
As you see from my screen name I’m Len Kelly A-300 Assistant Chief Pilot. Yesterday I received a phone call that informed me that sensitive information in the form of names and employee numbers of FedEx pilots were posted on this forum. By the time I had logged on the information had been removed by the moderator.
While searching for the posting I read several threads regarding the proposed LOA. What stood out to me was that no one was using his or her real names. I was wondering are we working for the same Company or members of the same Association? It was less than a year ago that nearly every bag in the crew room had “My Negotiating Committee Speaks For Me” tags. I was at the meeting at the Hilton where nearly every seat was filled and Bob Chimenti and your negotiating committee were greeted with a standing ovation and were heroes to all. Not surprisingly the Agreement was ratified by an overwhelming 95% of our pilots.
Now, the Company wants to open new domiciles to further enhance growth in the fastest growing segments of our business and wants to give us additional benefits on top of our previously mentioned industry leading contract. Now, it’s off with their heads and we’re getting screwed.
If you want your opinions to matter and your questions answered you need to use your name. Why, to evaluate your credibility that’s why. I am out in the crew lounge every chance I get to meet with the pilots and trying to help in any way I can and I take some shots, part of the job. Your elected and volunteer MEC officials are out in front doing work for you and they are taking shots every day, part of the job. You see them and can evaluate their credibility. You are not giving the same opportunity for others to evaluate your credibility.
The bottom line is this, I believe that anonymous postings on a free Website are worth exactly what you pay for them and you are doing your fellow pilots a disservice if you pass on bad information. If you want answers to specific questions or want clarification on intent, call the Company or the Association. Don’t rely on your fellow bloggers for information, they do not know, they deal in rumor not in fact. If you think you could do better, volunteer at the Association or interview for a management position. If you have a better way of doing things and are not willing to do anything about it except criticize others behind a screen name you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
I won’t be a regular reader or contributor to this site. If you need to speak with me please stop by or call my office or send me an email.
