I don't know why, but the vast majority of guys in MEM are insecure about e-mailing or calling a DP flyer. In ANC a DP violator gets dozens of calls and e-mails asking ****? Due to this most DP violators drop or otherwise dispose of the offending trip. For you guys in MEM who do contact DP violators good on you. Now the rest of you wall huggers grow a set and participate. For you DP violators, no excuse, and we see you.....out.

No doubt homey. Unfortunately MEM is so large that two phenomenon occur:

1) Independent operators think they will be lost in the crowd.

2) Guys are apathetic and think that calling each other out won't affect anything.

Everyone walks on eggshells down there. It's about time they show some resolve. Maybe we should start monitoring the MEM DPs and just do it for them.

Your hired ! I totally agree and would do it myself, but let's just say I am not in a position to be doing the emails or calls. I do not think it really matters, especially on the MD, who holds their feet to the fire. We all fly the MD and the lack of support on a particular pairing design in one base will most certainly affect the others as well.

Please, someone, start to put the peer pressure on these folks.

Let's get the anti-DP effort going....

It's a strong tool to help change pairings that break agreed upon scheduling parameters.

I don't think the DPs are breaking scheduling parameters. They are pairings built within the scheduling parameters of our contract irrespective of safety and fatigue.

I was assigned a DP on my secondary line which is nearly half of my pay for the month with no real chance to make it up given the open time situation. I don't want to just drop it given the huge hit I'll take (but I will if it's my last resort). How do I request substitution? (New guy question)

See above. Call the union ASAP. There is a solution here, but you're going to need some help. Good luck!

If you "specifically requested" that trip in your VTO request, you have no recourse with or without the union's help.

Your only option in that case is drop the trip and hope you can make it up later (it should be easy to drop give that we're over manned.)

If you did NOT request it, the union can help you with your options:

1) fly it at 150%
2) elect SUB - and probably get assigned the same trip at 100% pay.
3) refuse the same trip in SUB and get OTP (125% pay when you make it up if anything comes open in open time later)

something like that........

but, if you put it on your VTO request.......you........and all of us in the future.......are stuck with it

(check out the other threads currently on DP's - there's good info on this subject and a link to a grievance settlement that specifically addresses getting DPs on a VTO line)

so.......do tell.......did you request it? or did MS just put it on your VTO "in error"?
