FDX March Disputed Pairings
#41
If you did NOT request it, the union can help you with your options:
1) fly it at 150%
2) elect SUB - and probably get assigned the same trip at 100% pay.
3) refuse the same trip in SUB and get OTP (125% pay when you make it up if anything comes open in open time later)

Grieve it.

Here is a question: After somebody accidentally picks up a DP, isn't the process pretty much circumvented even if they later drop it?
I mean, the company can always still say that somebody picked up the trip voluntarily, even if that pilot didn't eventually fly the trip.
Does it only matter if the trip is actually flown by a reserve?
It seems to me that once the cat is out of the bag, you have already undermined the process and you might as well fly it and take your medicine.
What do you think?
For the record, I have never flown a DP, never requested one, and have absolutely no intention of ever flying one.
I am simply wondering if the damage is done once somebody makes the mistake of requesting the trip.

Also, doesn't OTP revert to regular makeup after the two bid months?
So, if you declined the trip in substitution and you weren't able to use OTP, you could at least do the makeup at some point down the road, albeit at straight time?
Again, though, I wonder if it is worth all that once you have made the "mistake" of asking for the trip and then dropping it later after you are found out by the rest of the crewforce.
I mean if it can happen to our union reps, it could happen to anybody.

As far as making the mistake, the damage is not done right off the bat. Our little listserv group (thanks to SD in ANC) sends out info for DPs that are voluntarily dropped as well, that way we know who knows how to correct a mistake.

Except, you got paid for the trip in the original month, and if not made up through OTP in the next two bid months, the Trip credit will be subtracted from your pay. That could be a huge hit, seeing as even on the 72, the DPs are 20-30 hrs, and much more on the MadDog.

*(unless the guy asked for that specific trip on his custom line and/or VTO request - in that case he has NO recourse but to drop - if they'll let him)

That is a pretty big hit, maybe something we could work on (the whole DP process) in the next contract.
Ironclad language preventing the company from assigning the DPs to anyone but reserves, and flagging the pairings in VIPs would be nice.

Really hate to double post, but this is the main DP thread.
The real "didn't request a DP on my VTO line" answer is outlined in this grievance settlement link.
And I would like to know why they aren't flagging DPs in VIPs. They proved they could back last August.

The union just published the latest message line. It included links to ALL the disputed pairings (Thanks for that ALPA). Many of the Capt/fo/rfo trips have already been filled (including one trip by prior FPA NC chairman BD???).
What's up with this???? How could there be this many guys that just don't get it??? It's time we treat these guys like the "non-players" they are. These guys are only slightly better than non-members!!!
