Quoted from the "General Implementation Appendix and Timeline" - Contract 2006:

.....In the programming sub-appendices for work rules,
(Sections 4, 12 and 25), and retirement and insurance (Sections 27 and
28), two dates are indicated—a target date, by which the Company intends
to implement each particular change, and a delivery date, beyond
which the Company would be in violation of the Agreement if it has not
implemented the change......

And from the subsequent Automation Appendix table:

Section 25. BB., Scheduling Improvement Group (SIG), Implement ability to flag trips as 'disputed', Target Date (Bid Period) - Jul 07, Deadline (Bid Period) - Oct 07

So......should already be implemented - we should grieve it!!

What, you don't think they implemented the ability? We know they did, because we saw them test it. So now the ability to flag disputed trips is not in question. I believe it was in March or April of last year when we saw they had the ability, around the time of many of the work rule and sched bidding changes were implemented.

agreed......it says "ability to".....

I still think we should grieve it and let an arbitrator decide what the intent was/is...

1) flag DPs for the crew force (ie. in VIPS on the open time screen as we all saw tested a few months ago)?

or

2) flag DPs for the schedulers/planners so they know not to award them on VTO/Custom Lines "in error"?

or

3) flag DPs for the SIG and schedulers as a record of pairings that remain in dispute?

anyone privy to the "intent" of this automation/programming requirement?

in any case, we should grieve this to find out if it has been implemented according to the intent negotiated, and if not, why isn't the company in compliance with the contract on this?

Hate to say this, guys, but....

Most people picking up the DPs don't give a sh......

True, some guys make mistakes, some are clueless (yes, and we actually let them fly our planes.) But most... are in it for #1. Many say "f" the union. (But really, they are "f"ing all of us!)

Many feel that the sodomizer has made their lives miserable enough, more work for less pay, that they think they NEED these pairing to make up for the slack. If you confront them, many will fall to the peer pressure and get rid of it, good for them.

And it is so easy to hide in Memphis. I have been here for years, and when I look up DPs, I almost never even recognize the names on the pairings. Oh, well, except good ole non member R.O. He has another one of course. Line check too, have fun.

same reasons a lot of other bad things happen to our pilot groups (pilots are our own worst enemies):

1. stupidity
2. greed
3. apathy
4. anonymity
5. "I got mine"
6. "doesn't affect me"
7. weak union leadership (personal agendas incompatible w/membership's agendas)

At least the some of the MEM 727 FO's have integrity, and a few of the DP's are still left in open time. Not like our fearless leaders, the Captains.

No one in MEM will do anything about it. Scared.

Whoa, there Richard. You're painting with a pretty broad brush. How come "some of the MEM 727 FO's have integrity" just because they haven't scarfed up every DP, yet "Not like our fearless leaders, the Captains" applies, when by my count, there are 326 727 captains who didn't pick up a DP? Get off your high horse and spend your time getting after those FOs who are scarfing up DPs.

I use Bid-X software. There is a block to check or uncheck to either include or exclude DP's when you download open time. I always uncheck the block so that DP's don't show up when requesting trips for my VTO line. In this case, the DP in question showed anyway and I did mistakenly request the trip. I made an honest mistake and will drop it if the union cannot do anything for me.

Anyone else use Bid-X? It will probably end up costing me almost 40 hrs of pay!

If we had a real union we'd hire some thugs to go Gillooly on some of these pogues and then we wouldn't have this problem every month.

What a bunch of tools.
