fdx excess

It will reduce the amount of passover pay they are currently paying. Many Jr 727 S/O are currently getting NB FO passover and in some cases WB. Not to mention that if we are truly over manned, why not have the most over manned seats be the lowest on the pay scale?
I won't argue that the company could have handled the last 4 postings better. They are doing what they are doing in an attempt to get the seniority in a more realistic alginment. Because they are paying passover pay to many S/O's.
After this excess is through there will be fewer folks getting passover. Folks will need to re-evaluate the decision of Pay vs QOL. My opinion is MGT full well knows what the all the excess training costs that this is going to generate. If they are willing to absorb these costs they either hope to recup some in reduction of passover or they see a negative trend for the next few years, or a little of both and are trying to get ahead of it.
If OIL stays high and revenues stay flat, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what comes next.

If an excessed pilot is denied an award to an FDA crew position, pursuant to Section 24.C.6.a. or C.6.c., (above), and he has insufficient seniority to be awarded or assigned another crew position with the same or higher rate of pay, he shall be entitled to passover pay.
I count over 240 guys that could have a preference for that...me included

Yes because once they get excessed (or re-excessed) they don't get passover anymore. Get it and most likely many of themy won't ever go to training in the first place)

Fedex was not under any obligation to excess out of the s/o seats. They could have let them sit there until the airplanes are gone. IMHO they need to realign so they can furlough, IF THEY NEED TO. Not saying they are, but fedex tries to prepares for any eventuality.

I have a passover pay question. Since the Junior HKG Capt is #4008, everyone being excessed above that seniority number being excessed is going to qualify for WBC passover pay if they have a preference for it in their bid

Also, once you start getting paid passover for HKG CA, then you must keep it in your standing bid until either you go to HKG, get awarded another WB Capt seat, or pull it from your standing bid. Once pulled, you must repay all of the passover pay.

I am saying not to hold your breath on getting WB Capt. passover pay by bidding HKG. There is no way the company is going to pay 300 or so guys that much money sitting as a FO. We will get sold out for scope, protection overseas under the RLG or some other dopey thing that the union thinks is worth selling us out for.

Ok, then say it is not true. The track record has not been real impressive lately. Can we spell age 60 retro or FDA LOA. It is pretty safe to say that if these issues had been handled better we would not be in this pickle.
