fdx excess

I won't argue that the company could have handled the last 4 postings better. They are doing what they are doing in an attempt to get the seniority in a more realistic alginment. Because they are paying passover pay to many S/O's.
After this excess is through there will be fewer folks getting passover. Folks will need to re-evaluate the decision of Pay vs QOL. My opinion is MGT full well knows what the all the excess training costs that this is going to generate. If they are willing to absorb these costs they either hope to recup some in reduction of passover or they see a negative trend for the next few years, or a little of both and are trying to get ahead of it.
If OIL stays high and revenues stay flat, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what comes next.

It will reduce the amount of passover pay they are currently paying. Many Jr 727 S/O are currently getting NB FO passover and in some cases WB. Not to mention that if we are truly over manned, why not have the most over manned seats be the lowest on the pay scale?

Could y'all share with us non-purples exactly what's going on over there in the Fredland?
Is it 150 captains or FOs or mixed that are getting displaced? Are they all going to the FE positions? Is it truly doom & gloom feeling over there right now or just a temporary slow down? Any talk of bribing/paying off/pushing off the cliff
etc. over 60 FEs into leaving?
Btw, when you use initials PC is his first name Paul by any chance?

BTW, MGT could just as easily announced this excess and a furlough at the same time if they really intneded to furlough.
Time will tell. The economy and revenues will dictate the future.
But as for manning it is simple math. If we have too many pilots in specific seats, it makes sense to overstaff or force the excesses to the lowest paying seats. But that is just a line dawgs opinion.
