Vacancy bid first. My guess is a Realignment Vacancy Bid out 2 Feb, followed by a Displacement Bid 16 Feb. I don't have any good intel, other than looking at the DC8 overmanning. Probably some 747 vacancies, and hopefully some A300 and 757.

F. Realignment Vacancy Bids
1. When it is necessary to reduce the number of permanent bid
positions in status in a domicile on one or more equipment
type(s) in the same domicile or among domiciles and
simultaneously increase the number of permanent bid positions
in status on other equipment type(s) in the same domicile or
among domiciles, the Company shall post the new permanent
bid positions in accordance with Section D Article 14. The new
permanent bid positions shall also be awarded in accordance
with Section E of Article 14 except that the Company shall not
be required to award those recurring vacancies specified under
Section E.1.e. of Article 14 which are determined to be
unnecessary to accommodate the total credited time allocated
to the equipment type(s) which is suffering a reduction of
permanent bid positions. As a result of a realignment vacancy
bid there shall be no reduction in status in domicile of any crewmember. (My Note: The reductions in status come as a result of the follow-on Displacement Bid.)

D. Posting of Permanent Bid Positions (Vacancies)
1. All vacancies will be posted at all domiciles where
crewmembers are based and all major gateways as defined in
Article 3… Vacancy bids, which are available to be bid
electronically, shall be posted for a minimum of fourteen (14)
days.

E. Awarding of Permanent Bid Position (Vacancies)
1. Seniority
b. Upon closing of a vacancy posting, crewmembers shall be
awarded the vacancies in accordance with their system
wide seniority and their preference bid, unless otherwise
excepted by this Agreement.

Thanks, Roberto. I was going to ask another question, but you answered it already in post #6 on this thread.

Just so this board isn't all FDX and to give World Guy something else to moan about...

I joined the Brown Pool about a year ago. Any guesses on how long guys can swim before we are all flushed and have to reinterview? I'd hate to have to start the whole process over again when the hiring starts.

The 1st guys who were hired in 04' were in the pool in 01'. They had to re-interview, but at least they were the 1st to interview and start class.

Not sure how long it'll take and if you'll have to reinterview or not but from what I've been told there were very few ( I've only heard of 1 person) who were turned down after the second interview and then only after a major violation was found on the person's file...

So although potentially very inconvenient you'd probably be just fine...

If it makes you feel any better my buddy who's in the SWA pool was told that after 18 months or so he might have to reinterview over there too...

Just thought of a new question...Is a displacement bid a given follow-on to a realignment vacancy bid if enough crewmembers bid off the DC-8? I assume too that while the over-60 SDF FE's can't bid an open realignment vacancy, they can and will bid into FO or Captain spots during the displacement bid.

Night Hawk, AV8OR Wannabe thanks a lot. Hopefully they'll do the same this time and let us keep swimming until hiring starts up again.

You are a bit mixed up on bidding procedures. Re-read Article 14, Domicile Staffing. If you (or anyone else) do not already have the contract as a shortcut on your desktop, I strongly recommend that you go to the IPA web site and download it. The downloaded version is a .pdf document and has a table of contents and a search function that make it very useable.

Re. your question, if all the reduced positions in the realigned domicile(s) receive a bid award from the Realignment Vacancy Bid, then the follow-on Displacement Bid is cancelled. (I haven't seen this happen in my 18 years, but you normally get a reduction as some choose to bid off).

Secondly, a Realignment Vacancy Bid is still a vacancy bid, with the difference being that if someone bids off the realigned domicile, that postion is not backfilled (unless more people bid off than were specified).

Everyone can bid, and the positions are filled IAW system-wide seniority.

SLP - I meant to poke fun of his obsession with UPS (seems like others here have noticed his hate for Big Brown as well) - didn't mean to make fun of your significant other or whatever relationship there's between you two... Sorry, I hurt your feelings
