You are giving some of those that missed out on the MD11 bandwagon a chance to go....without much flush downward.

Very incremental. Radical even. You see no furlough then
If there is a (-1) for a seat, say 27FO, and 10 people bid to "relieve excess"...do all 10 get to leave? or do 9 people have to be bumped down before they can leave...well, except the most senior who got the (-1)?

Only 1 guy/gal, net, will get to leave. If 9 flow down due to excess from another seat, 10 get to move.

Default Bus Capt's Overmanned...

You all keep talking about Bus FO's being overmanned...There are currently almost 100 more Capt's than FO's right now in the Bus. And on top of that they are using approx 40 more Bus FO's to cover the HKG SIBA...

Excessing airbus CAs may be in the mix. Could be a problem, though. Bidding to relieve may just move them over to the MD11

Most of the junior Airbus CAPT I have flown with say they would rather go Airbus FO than 727 Capt, since this will be 'temporary' and they don't want to go to training on a different AC.

Peace and Chicken Grease...

Most of the senior Bus FOs I have flown with say they go to Bus Captain if there is an excess in their seat. Some I have flown with are a 1000+ seniority #s senior to the most junior Capt.

If they furlough they have 727SO's to replace (130?). Filled by excessed 11-200-727 FO's. Instead of filling the 727SO seat they would bid excess to ANC for the move package. Excessing ANC FO's.

And what happens when the Boeing goes away? Another excess and another move package back to ANC or wherever you choose to move about the country.

Probably why the VIPS server is busy as the computer is trying to figure this one out.

Do you get a move package if you bid to relieve? That's how a 727 FO would end up in ANC.

Don't believe for a minute the excess bid would be so large as to force 727 FOs up to ANC against their will.

Keep in mind a furlough does not have to be 300. It could be 100. And with a corresponding reduction in 727 flying.

What will happen when the 727 goes away? Probably a vacancy bid. I've heard about those. I think people move up instead of down. Novel concept.

O said in RGS in December that the excess bid would be 50-60 Airbus crews, and may not involve the MD11 at all.

....or they fill the 757 with excessed WB Capts and FOs looking to stay in MEM.
So that means with 4A2B they will be effectively implementing a "market demand payscale". When freights down, lower our pay...when freights up, pays up.

It is instrumental to our collective financial futures that we win these grievances.
