Trying to learn more of the difference between UPS and Fed Ex. Currently, I know UPS has been around much longer. Fed Ex started out mostly as an air delivery operation and UPS was mostly a ground operation. Since then, they have both purchased other small companies and thus somewhat equallized their differences. In the 1980's, UPS bought their own aircraft and they too began next day delievery. Any information regarding these 2 companies' differences is greatly appreciated.

george, Just go in positive and don't even think about choking, you can do it and it is not a hostile process.
Sorry this thread degraded into a review of people's individual demons and fears instead of providing you with more information.
Best of luck and please let us know how it goes-this could be a really positive change in your life.

Also, someone please tell me why those of you that are complaining about women and minorities are not complaining about the fact that since the airlines began in the 1940's, women and minorities could not get hired simply because they were women and minorities. So, it's okay to NOT get hired because you're a minority or woman but it's not okay to GET hired because you're a minority or a women.
My neighbor was a tuskeegee airman in WWII. Several years after the war he was hired by a major airline based purely on his resume and war heroics. His resume was so impressive he didn't even have to interview in person. (this was common in those days) When he showed up for class he was physically removed from the class and told not to come back. This story can be repeated hundreds and hundreds of times including US Air in the 1990's. They were busted for taking minority applications and changing the info to disqualify most of them. Why do i not hear you complaining about that?
Oh, by the way, i always laugh when i hear people say that "if i was a black female i could have gotten hired by United." The fact is that only 13 black females were hired in the 1990's. Thats right, 13. And some of those were military pilots so it's not like they were all low time pilots. This is fact not my opinion. So i guess if they hadn't hired those 13 ladies i guess all of you would have been hired instead.
current airline demographics 98.9 % white and 1.1 minority.

Regardless, no one can change the past. It's a good thing these airlines are doing to show gratitude. Almost every airline I know now are doing it. Shows that times have change and we are actually past that and building this world as One People. One Nation!

George,
Good luck in your interview! The HR part is not bad - just be yourself, be positive, and make sure you are enthusiastic. As for the sim, I did mine in the 767 fixed base sim as well. Up to the point, the largest a/c I had flown was the 737-800. The weirdest part of flying that thing is that it doesn't fly! You get no motion feedback which makes you overcorrect and exagerate your inputs (at least it did for me
). I believe that a huge key in the sim is NEVER GIVE UP. If you think that you busted a maneuver, put it behind you and keep going. There were times that I thought I had screwed the pooch, but kept going, never gave up, and I'm here now. So, what you may perceive as unsat may not be so in the eyes of the evaluator.
Let us know how things go.

"Am told that I will be doing sim portion in 767"
There are two 757 sims that are REALLY busy with training and we have a 767 FBS. The 767 FBS is basically a sim without a visual or motion....it does a great autoland, though. Be sure to keep the the IVSI in your scan cause it's difficult to get the pitch trim just right. The flight director is very good but they will probably not let you use it. If they do, be sure to have the NFP make the mode control panel selections.
