Plus it gives the air group bragging rights in ATL about cutting unit costs since the excess IPA pilots can easily pick up the slack, and they also have additional reserves if needed as they can cancel future RDG. And the junior guys having dodged the bullet will be grateful to have a job (and no more reduced pay since RDG will be cancelled-returned to full pay) they will have far better attitudes than the MRB writing/higher cost drones that will soon hit the street. PLUS the remaining magazine straighteners will cower for their lives!

You heard it here first...
This is also very likely. Davis seems to be set on reducing. I have encountered gateway managers with sour attitudes due to management cuts and they talk about further cuts, not happy and they are nervous.

UPS will wring as much as they can from the IPA, then come up with an agreement that makes everyone look good. If I were a Manager, I'd be VERY nervous...
Most of these guys are worthless and overpaid anyway. Will be interesting to see you claws their way to the top at the expense of others if indeed this is true.

Save the managers! (At least the ones that the IPAers really like)

That said, managers knew when they signed on here at UPS that they had (a) no seniority rights and (b) no union to protect their jobs if the going ever got rough.

The company did announce an overall reduction of 1800 management types throughout the system. It is possible they accept the MOU and get rid of Manglers.
If they get rid of managers you can count on a furlough. Pilots will have to share the pain. They will not sacrifice managers at the expense of line crews.

It's not about "pain" (this isn't the federal government), it's about money. The pitiful "contributions" by the managers pales in comparison to those on the table (and subject to revocation by THEIR hand) from us. All they're looking for from us is the possibility of a fear based give back induced by this current delay tactic. Word is Leadpipes has a cross burning to attend until mid/late next week. Once ATL realizes they are going to get 90-92% (depending on your accounting method) now, and perhaps the rest in the fall they'll wisely take the cash and then prepare for what they hope are early contract openers via what will then be an empty and hollow threat in the fall. Do you actually think that the groundsiders in ATL regard any of the FQM's (many of them ex-IPA and ALL make over 200K) with even 10% more loyalty than they do us? Oh my...

In the meantime they can get IMMEDIATE savings from firing manglers now, and scare the remaining into good dogs that would actively fight any attempts to bring them onto our list. Then hire select ones back (at cheaper deals) after the current economy improves...or better yet, make them work the sort to learn how real UPSr's really work.

Exclamation UPS Pays Ca$h for all of its jets.....

I don't think so anymore....

Rumor has it that our "new" 767's are all financed. It's a new era with Davis at the helm.

I hope he cuts our FQM's and we staple 'em to the bottom of our list out of "good will".

I see this as a win for Davis and wall street. Get rid of the managers and keep the MOU savings.... Maybe we could get the subordinate officials to pony up some of their year end "factor" to help save some jobs.

Striker.
