Latest FCIF:
blah....blah....blah....
He will be addressing the pilot group in the
large T.V. room during the night hub turn (Wed/Thurs night) at 0030,
Thursday 28 Jan 2010 and also.....
Dr. XYZ will be discussing the services he provides to the pilot group
and to the Company in his position as Aeromedical Advisor. Additionally,
he'll be discussing the use of sleep medications, fatigue, medications, and
ultra long range flying considerations for crewmembers. There will also be
time set aside for questions and answers.

uh.....yeah Doc.....in your "professional" opinion......how many people in this room right now would you consider to be fatigued as they prepare to go fly tonight/this morning?

For me, the ultimate insult is hearing OR tell us to "be professional" and keep 4a2b out of the cockpit.
It's tough enough to come to work every day and get screwed like we are, but to have management tell us to "carry on ops. normal, continue to move freight efficiently" is asking us to deny we are rewarding management for their rapacious behavior.

And from the Chairman's most recent message - January/February 2010:
"People-Service-Profit
These three words are the philosophical foundation of FedEx.
In a nutshell, satisfied team members will deliver the impeccable service demanded by our customers, who in turn, will reward us with the profitability that secures our future.
The P-S-P philosophy is an unbroken chain, each link enmeshed with the others.
The People part of the philosophy means we try to create and maintain an environment that brings out the best in everyone.
We treat each other with respect and dignity and encourage professional growth.
We focus our creativity and energy on serving customers.
We encourage feedback through formal programs so that we can continue to deliver better and broader opportunities to our people."
I wonder if staying in 4A2B in Jan/Feb 2010 is genuinely consistent with the management/leadership philosophy espoused above?

No fatigue problem here because we are penalized for calling in fatigued. Most other airlines don't rape your sick bank and make you explain why you are fatigued to management. I wonder if the Feds know the companies strong arm anti-fatigue policy?

We carry boxes, not people. So the politics of sensationalism is almost nil.
