I believe that is a Deal breaker and a Strike issue.
Explain this one. The credit for service has not been taken away, yet. How does this have anything to do with Age 65, years of service is years of service? You retire, then they multiply the multiplier times you years of service regardless of retirement age. This is an attempt by the company to deny some credit for their service while getting the added benefit of turning pilots against pilots (those that it affects vs those that it does not).

How does this help the company? The travel bank would remain the same

Difference between a first class ticket and coach.

Without being able to get a first class ticket because of duty day length (i.e. You operate to MSP. Scheduled dh is for 12 hours later, thus a coach ticket. But you hub turned into the trip, go to the hotel for just a few hours and then deviate on a flight without a legal crew rest. Your duty day qualifies for a first class ticket. Your deviation duty day exceeds 16 hours. Company couldn't have "scheduled" that dh.) With new rule you would have to buy a coach ticket more than likely. Chances are some people wouldn't be able to spend their entire bank as easily.

However, if EVERY time they do it, they bump, with pay, a non- management line Capt and First Officer, what's the down side? I'm sure there is one and someone will be happy to point it out to me but two non-management pilots staying home with pay would be a good deal. The language would have to be very tight to prevent them from going around the intent, for example: trip would have to be a bid pack trip, awarded on a line to non LCA, flex, salary or pay only guys and cannot be picked up out of open time due to drop, sick etc. I'm sure there's more.
Is it geared for our new VP? Or is their in intent to develop a scab labor group like at UPS? Our experience with 4A2b leads me to think it is the latter.

I could live with that.

I don't care how carefully we word it, we'll get rolled somehow. I don't like giving the company a contractual opening to put non-line pilots in our cockpits. No way I say.

I think we should stay clear of this. It was said earlier and I will reiterate. The company took a section of our contract with honest intentions as written, 4a2b, and stuck it up most of our collective a$$es.

If we think they won't exploit hiring non-seniority holders and flood our cockpits and sims with them we will be kidding ourselves.

It was upper crust that hired JG and that's great, I hear he's a great guy. But he IS A MANAGER, not a pilot. It's not up to us to make sure he gets IOE in the MD11. The company knew the rules when they hired him.

I say, take an empty MD11 or a humanitarian charter under part 91 and give him some landings. Beyond that I say NO to non-seniority pilots flying revenue flying. It's a pandoras box that we can't afford to open. The company lost my trust with 4a2b.

Why don't they just stick him on the bottom of the seniority list?

They had already lost mine prior to that. 4a2b just ensured they would never get it back!
