My assertion that Flexes are dissuaded from flying the line stands. Until the MANNING is improved, the same dynamic will exist to continue to dissuade SCHEDULING from ALLOWING Flexes to fly the line. If you are privileged to fly the line from time to time, great on you. Talk to the guys in the training building on Airways - - What it WAS is what it IS, still.

I challenge you to find where I implied that the Flexes that quit in disgust, the Flexes that you so admire, are "whining, pouty, draft whors [sic]". Who's putting words in another's mouth?

I know this must be hard to connect the dots, but perhaps I can paint a picture for you to help. Section 11 was TAd when the Company and the FedEx ALPA Negotiating Committee came to an agreement about the provisions therein. If these fine, upstanding, highly-experienced, well-respected individuals were so unhappy about the TA that they would up and quit the Company, it's not a long stretch to imagine they'd quit the other party to the agreement. In fact, it doesn't make sense to me to quit one and not the other. Funny protest, if you ask me.

Either you're just too emotional about this to think clearly, or you had a lapse in reading comprehension. Your complaint about the quality of schedules as a Flex Instructor impugns your credibility as a rational advocate for the Flex Instructor position. I already know that we see things differently, and that's perfectly OK. But frankly, when you start complaining about your schedule, I'm wondering if the next thing on your list is the elevator in the training building is too slow.

Default No us vs us

To attempt to sum all this up.

Some folks under Section 11 think the are getting the short end of the stick.
Comments that money was pulled from section 11 to be put into other sections........may or may not be true .................

I would prefer not to make this a Have or Have not issue.

Lets put it this way..............

If you were the Negotiating Chair as the end game of the deal was approaching................what would you do.

There is so much money in the pie and to some extend the NC can shuffle some of this money around. This TA is for the Benefit of all 4711 Pilots on the Seniority List.

This TA gives better SCOPE language than we had before.

This TA gives all FDX pilots enhancements in Retirement and medical insurance.

This TA gives ALL FDX pilots the same work rules for Line operations under Section 12 , 25., however slight.

This TA gives all of us the Same PAY raises and Signing bonuses, however small. FLex guys got everything the rest of us did.....and maybe in their eyes took some concessions in Section 11, but all 4711 guys aren't in section 11 only about 250 are.

Clearly in many peoples eyes we came up short in some areas. But these Deal "is what it is" and we will ALL vote on it beginning next week.

If you Section 11 folks really think you personally got Screwed........
You have a few limited options. This applies to the rest of us too ,,,outside section 11.
1. VOTE NO
2. Quit your Flex job and become a line Dawg or become an LCA.
3. Accept what ever the majority decide and get on with life. In other words Get busy with living or start dying.

Section 11 was negotiated on your behalf with help by Your training committee chairman.............and negotiated against you by one of your own JH. So who should any anger be vented at

Again--outsider looking in--but I agree with Redeye. Why haven't their been as many complaints like "why did the company do this to US?" and "why did our own training department cut us down?" instead of "why didn't those 4711 fight harder for the 250 of us?".

On a different note--you flex guys got any plans to fight back? I'd hate to try to replace even 50% of my training force...

Good God! Arguing with you is like wrestling with a pig.

I entered the post because I was sick of all the uninformed, derogatory comments being hurled at Flex instructors. What the he11 does THAT have to do with anything. Try again.

What does ALL the crap you post here accomplish? Make you feel better? Inform others? What their actions accomplished, my myopic friend, was to make a personal statement that they were not willing to slave away while their efforts were rewarded with concessionary contract language and derogatory comments from the MGT. Is that clear enough for you to comprehend, or does input A have to cause quantifiable output B in order to be justified? Oh, just to be correct, they didn't quit the Company, they only did what EVERYBODY on this post seems to feel is the honorable thing to do if you're not happy, they quit their Flex position (a VOLUNTARY position). And, oh by the way again, they dropped their letters very soon after Section 11 was TA'd (quite a while ago) AND the meeting with the MGT happened...

Have you been smoking crack? You said didn't make sense to quit being a Flex and not quit the Union as well if you're not happy with the TA? Applying your convoluted logic, everyone should quit the Union if they don't like something about the TA... The Union didn't insult these guys, MGT did. Were you there? Think not.

Hmmm, let's see:

"Well, yeah, I guess they really showed THEM, huh? I guess these were the same guys that were demanding that they get their FLY months every quarter? Same guys that were saying NO to Draft days on their printed schedules? Same guys that were demanding that the Training Department be manned at a level to allow the Contract to be administered like it was written, without the "unless the Company needs you to work" caveats?"

Using the Sarcasm Descrambler, I would have to say those comments were insulting and implied these guys didn't ask to fly, accepted draft, didn't point out we needed more Flexes... I'm SURE you didn't mean ANY of that (you can run MY statement through the Sarcasm Descrambler if you wish).

Please refresh my memory as to where I complained about the 'the quality of schedules as a Flex Instructor'. The things I have pointed out here are the concessionary parts of Section 11 as it pertains to a Flex instructor. Any comments about schedules was personal in nature and in response to a direct question regarding the same.

Dude ... your wife obviously forgot to give you your medication this morning. Take a deep breath, have a beer, read over the TA and relax before you blow a gasket.

Any organized action (or attempt to do same) is a BIG NO-NO under RLA. There have been a few people sent to the principals office already for that. The only action available is an individual decision to go back to the line. However, these childish actions need to be cleared via TonyC prior to implementation...

There have been plenty of the above statements. However, as many people are happy to point out on various posts "I'm not finding any concessions yet"... Well, they're there. It's just that they impact the red-headed, left-handed lepers here at the company, so if no one really gives a chit.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight... If he wants to obfuscate, misdirect and make baseless statements, what's the harm in blasting away? Plus it feels soooo good!

Flew with a flex last month and had to listen him explain how it was ok for them to work extea sim sessions, "as how would I feel if my training was rescheduled"??? This is after I had been turning down choice and painlees draft trips for the common good. I guess he doesnt know our regular line trips get rescheduled quite alot. Its not just about flying draft trips but doing all those extra sim sessions also that did not sit well with most people I know. He said if thay didnt they might get asked to leave. Not quite like loosing your job its just having to go fly the line that your senority can hold. That might be a problem! If being a flex is so hard and cost netural then why are there so many lifer flex instructers. Ones that Started in the back of the 72 and now are flexing on the widebody a/c having never truly flown the line?

I already did that in Post #87 above, but I'd be happy to do it again:

You still haven't explained the 5 inviolate days off per month.

Hey Mike..

I think you need to read your block reps letter to guys like you. He said it much better than any of us could. If you don't like your job at the sim anymore there is plenty of room back here on the line. No one if forcing you to stay home every night...
