Question

The flying out of CVG to SLC has been extended for a week. We hear that the letter of agreement limiting the CVG flying to ABX was never signed by the company. Interesting....

Interesting.....but not true....the company at the meeting last week has acknowledged that ABX only will fly 767 domestic for DHL (and stated so in a seperate letter in addition to what is in SL 43) ...but the union agreed to this exception for a limited time with an end date do to this being a Cappy 757 contract with DHL... FWIW

I still could swear I saw somewhere and at some point that the limitation was for -200s only. I can't find the link or copy of whatever it was that I read to back up my memory, but if correct, then there isn't an issue anyway - 316CM is a -300. At the same time, have the rest of the once-Cappy 727 runs been picked up by ABX? Or is someone else doing them, like Atlas? I guess what I'm getting at is, if ABX picked up all but one of the runs, was the subcontract to ATI let because ABX couldn't take it on on the short term? Airplane availability, crews whatever? From what you said above, Nite, it appears that there has been some leeway granted for this known short-term situation, so I guess that's good, but there's a hell of a lot of things going on behind the scenes, at least from our operations and admin, that really raise some concern on our part. May eventually affect us all.

Yes.... all of the other 727 lines are being covered by ABX. Plus, ABX sent another 767 (740AX) over to Europe to join 767AX on TNT work. In addition, Atlas is still spotty on reliability AND their 767-200s have passed through ILN over the past two weeks for some type of maintenance (could have been a B-Check). Finally, ABX covered for the Cappy 757 in BFI with a 767-300 flown as a tag on to 1920 (LAX-SFO) for a few Fridays.

ABX is probably at the breaking point with all the hot spares which is made worse by another aircraft being sent to Europe. They covered both ORD and TOL/MSP for Atlas on Friday (1/11) alone. No wonder the December furlough was called off at ABX.

Some people question why I keep tabs on this stuff but it does come in handy

Re:-300
I'm almost positive you're correct regarding the use of -300s on DHL domestic. I've heard that thrown around in Little Rock a few times.

The only additional runs you'll see being done by Atlas will be temporary. 2 -300s will do BRU and MIA/MCO, i believe, then they head for NRT in the spring.

Otherwise, still just the 5 -200s in CVG.

Covered ORD, TOL/MSP, and YHM on Friday....the SL restricts DHL domestic in 767 aircraft to ABX..... does not differentiate 200, 300, 400 etc and last week the company in a separate letter acknowledged as much. And yes we are out of airplanes....Friday alone had the 3 extra Cappy flights and the 3 Atlas recoveries...
