A lot of interesting ideas being offered here. But here's another: Whether or not anyone believes that Jakarta is real, let's assume that it is. I believe that would constitute intra-Asia. Maybe that's part of what's holding things up (again, I am only operating under the ass-u-me...ption that it will happen, not prognosticating that it might actually happen). Once that happens, ABX got nuttin on ATI to have a certificate worthy of continuation over ours.
Also, am I correct in the thought that CAM owns all of the airplanes in question here - ABX, ATI, soon to be ex-Cappy? If so, then does that take a little wind out of the sails behind the thought that DHL would want airlines with no assets? Huge element of control lost there. Cheaper in the short term, but (control your guffaws here...), I would hope that DHL still remembers how completely they got "served" a few years back in the US market.
As for Southern, not sure why AAWW doesn't go for them now. Seems they should be ripe for the picking. Besides, a good chunk of Atlas consists of ex-SAT refugees after the original shut down in 1998. I was one of them, but went to ATI.
I still think everything that is happening to us here under ATSG is in preparation for next year's re-up with DHL. We think it's ugly now? Just wait...

Trust me, Atlas has been thru this before. It would be five or six years down the road for the merged contract to come to fruition.
I had heard that there were still many ABX captains doing $300k, where at Atlas that is rare. Average 744 captain gets just above $200k.
BTW, I'm looking at it from a management point of view. Atlas management is pretty happy with the current Atlas contract. It has very few rules and no protections.
I guess none of us has protection from a rape and pillage mentality.

I am not sure "CAM owns" the aircraft I know for a fact when 600-750M worth of ABX aircraft went to CAM no money changed hands. Cam would have to come up with some serious cash before they could "claim" ownership. Now transfer to CAM.... a leasing company owned by ATSG for accounting purposes that is a different story. As far as ASIA goes...intra-Japan is the issue ABX has it as a one time only with after market cargo doors...whether that comes into play with ATI I have no idea.....
I have no doubt that ATI was losing money after BAX shut down. We had planes and people sitting, huge training costs, minimal consistent revenue beyond the combis. But any claim of losing money at this point is either an outright lie to cover up the accounting shenanigans, or a lit neon sign that we have no business being in business, because we obviously can't cut it

Well, when CHI bought ATI, we actually took a delay out of LAX so the new ownership paperwork could be updated, it was that important to them. I'm sure insurance drove that more than anything. Either way, CAM, at the stroke of a pen, became the owner of all of our aircraft. No idea whether our cheap DC-8s were bought for a symbolic $1 each, or what, but now we had to pay lease rates on planes we once owned. I'd guess ABX owns none of theirs, either. What better way to manipulate cash flow accounting?

.CAM (or ATI) also already said this aircraft will have to get a new registration since it is to close to N763CX. This must be an ATI request since CAM stopped ATI from changing 312AA to 764CX back in 2011 AFAIK.
I think CAM "owns" all the aircraft. They have most of the DC8/727s for sale on their website along with 364CM available to lease.

In other news..... the second 757 was delivered today. N763CA was flown from OSC to ILN and joins N151GX.

That or we can un-mothball 722CX

Plus the third 757 is being delivered today from OSC. Its registration is N259CA. So depending on how you look at it, ATI now has four 757s on "property" in theory.

When talking with a friend who worked with 151GX at another airline, he indicated it wasn't a great airplane because it had a high OEW and low MTOW (230,000lbs). That probably has all changed with the conversion. Other then that he seemed to indicated it wasn't a hanger-queen which is a good start. All of these airplanes have done very limited flying in the last 2-3 years.

N168CA is the fourth aircraft in OSC and I assume it will also be delivered making five aircraft total. Maybe not though. It might be a B757F instead.
If you see reference to N176CA, ignore it as National flies this aircraft in a full passenger configuration out of DXB. If you see reference to N169CA, ignore it. They used to fly that one in a full passenger configuration out of DXB but returned it to the lessor and replaced it with N176CA last summer. Now N169CA is in VCV being converted to a full freighter and will be going to FedEx. If you see reference to N459CA, ignore that as well because it was the planned registration of N151GX had it flown for National. National's owner has the initials "CA" and he wants all his aircraft to end in CA.
AFAIK, the plan right now is to not put IS&S panels into these aircraft. Instead they will all be the EADI/EHSI (Fast/Slow I guess) displays. However, they all will be upgraded to the PEGASUS FMC and maybe the MCDU which should include GPS MMRs (think 712AX). This would allow for one worldwide navdatabase instead of what is currently done with the 767s.
By the way here is Cappy's fourth 757.....

Hey, FAJ, National was originally going to have 4 combis. 151GX, 259CA, 763CA, and 168CA. I believe the first 3 are on their way to us, not sure what became of 168CA, maybe the conversion was cancelled and she went full freighter. The Precision bird is 556CM.

Honestly, your great post above wasn't there when I signed on. (nice job in doing so, though, I must admit!)
