FDX Contract Openers

UAL had them in the early '90s. After buying Pan Am's Pacific routes, they had a bunch of PFEs with nothing to do, but seniority numbers. They were handed a wad of cash to get their IA and ME ratings. Not sure what they were paid or medical requirements...or if age 60 applied.
Interesting play on their part, no? I'm sure your F/Es will dismiss that idea out of hand.

Management pilots and their minions typically don't mention contract discussions. They tend to emphasize enforcement and discipline. But that has changed with the study of PBS. One ways have come out of the woodwork to "gently" suggest we should consider it.
That should tell us all we need to know. All these PBS lovers know it will be the BIGGEST concession made in our career. They count on you not understanding that fact.
I am insulted by their lack of respect for our intellect and unbridled desire to hose a vast majority of the crew force for a, as yet unrevealed, minor gain for the top 5%. You've seen this before and it never really goes away. It just hides in the shadows until they see a chance to push their rotten agenda again.
NO concessions for the majority for the benefit of the very few.
Go ahead, ask me again. If it keeps up, I'll work to pull the NC out until you replace the management team on the other side of the table.
I'll definitely say no to every request for any voluntary extension until a smarter approach comes our way. Good will has been totally lost.

They would use PBS a an EXTREMELY blunt instrument because they are not capable of doing anything else with it. Everything bad that is possible is their wet dream. They will fight to keep open the possibility of using it poorly and make us go to arbitration over it.

Lots of talk about PBS, Cruise Pilots and Accepted Fares.......all appropriate and needed. Curiously small amount of traffic on Vacation and the A Plan, even though those are both sections the Co. has stated they wish to open.....PBS defacto would gut our Vacation which is the best in the industry by a country mile. Nothing on the radar about the A Plan........what is in that other hand....

I don't see the senior folks having any interest in upsetting the current apple cart. (But I do agree with others that this is likely just a big distraction. What's in the other hand, behind their back??)

I don't think our union could negotiate a cookie contract with the girl scouts, more or less an viable contract for our crew force without giving something big away, like PBS. I just hope everyone takes the time to read it before they vote, instead of being like our members of government.
