As does not flying extra and not flying DPs. If you ask me the company would be a lot more responsive to having to lay on extra reserves than seeing a bunch of hats, bag tags, lanyards, and/or pins.

Sort of off topic, but did everyone's new pin come with a paper backing that says "Are you in?" Not that I've ever been asked that question before, but can we come up with a better rallying cry?

Why don't we try this, actually staying unified by our deeds, not lanyards. Stop flying DPs, don't bid an aircraft w/o a payrate, etc...I saw the worst of the crew force during 4a2b, we showed our true colors, we are selfish and our level of unity is low. They know it and the 4400 pilots who don't read this board deliver the message daily.

Until then, I'm pulling for my favorite team.
So what you're saying is we can't "Count You IN". you've made your point.

As for me...if the negotiating committee wants me to wear it ....I do because they speak for me.

Agree 100%. Lanyards, pledge pins are "Symbolism over Substance." The folks on the other side of the negotiating table respect the later.

Was it Patton who said "if I can't get them to wear to wear their uniforms, how can I expect them to die for their county?"

Nice talk about 4a2b, pickets, etc. how about we show each other we are in this together first.... The rest will follow in due time...

Lets get real, the largest ALPA supporters all wearing their lanyards, were the ones calling for the furlough, flying large carryover and picking up extra flying during 4a2b. Actions speak louder than words. He11, the the most vocal calling for the furlough was the previous MEC rep. If you can't get a previous MEC rep to support his fellow crew members, what does wearing a pin accomplish.

Question for you Albie, did you ever fly carryover or pick up flying during 4a2b.

You're not seriously equating an ALPA lanyard to wearing a uniform in the service, are you?

A more appropriate analogy might be this: we already wear our pilot uniforms with pride. What we have yet to earn is the right to wear a unit patch that shows our success and unity as a team on the battlefield. Like the scene from "Band of Brothers," where the replacements were wearing their Unit Citations for Normandy, though they hadn't even been in combat yet.

Maybe if we can convince our fellow ALPA members to act like a unified team through their actions, we can then wear our lanyards with the pride that demonstrates we've achieved true unity of action.

And then, the company might take notice of the 4600 lanyards, because they would represent our success on the battlefield.
