Even though I'm stuck in your x-peeing here you must understand my situation I want to fly for 20 or so more years and am willing to go away for two weeks, or more.
I'd probably get a second home and move down to, or closer to, SDF at least for work periods after year one. I'm financially okay, live low cost (paid for home here), but MUST be able to visit and house my daughter when off.... so I see two condos in my future, no problem.
I obviously, hired or not, hope for growth, a better contract (work rules/trips/mix), and a much improved relationship management/pilots, here soon! With or without me...
This brings me to the forbidden word: MGT PLT... what does it entail? Obviously hired outside of contract / seniority list but WHAT to say if asked if interested!???!??! And so on..........

UPS is a good career. Good pay, good benefits, good retirement, good variety of flying and a great union.
Go to work, fly, go home and don't think about the place until you have to go back to work.

Its the best deal possible !
Write your own schedule. Only fly short legs in the afternoon and come right back that evening.
Maybe update some memos, make a few phone calls to other pilots from the office during the days.
Captain in the first year.
Or maybe work in the sim doing checkrides of line guys.
Its a regular cornucopia of duties that could be assigned.
Its been well documented on this forum, search the word "NURP"

Forget about 2 condos!!! Try 4 or 5, maybe 10 condos all over the planet with the kind of money and benefits they are paying those boys and girls!!
Cha-Ching baby!!!!!!
And you get to wear 4 stripes on your cool brown leather jacket right away...
Looks like this -------------> llll ---- llll
Only down side is we all will think you're a no good scab and your ID will be marked as such and everyone will know...Kinda hard to jumpseat as a scab....as you well know.

UPS should be your last choice if nothing better comes along. It's not the worst pilot job in the world, but choosing UPS over United, Delta or AA is a bad career decision if you ask me. You'll be junior here forever, and there is really nothing that I can identify in the future for this trucking-company-airline that makes me think it will get any better.
No growth at all, in fact, we are actually shrinking. NURPS taking captain slots out of seniority order. Full assault on the contract daily. Ugh, I can go on and on but why bother. Just pick a better career airline.. Wish I wouldve.

Sounds to me a NURP no longer exists or should be called NUMP... ;-) It also sounds they're no cheaper for the company than a UGP (G for grunt)... :-p
Who has taken these positions? All over the board? And again without UGP's on the streets is/have the 'ill-will' reduced?
(Sorry touchy subject I'm sure but want to be educated...)

Best advice to outsiders considering a job at UPS is to talk to guys already here. Jumpseat through our sort and pull up a chair. Don't make a decision based on anonymous disgruntled people's views on this forum. Lots of negativity!
UPS is a great job overall. The pay is eye opening- most F/Os I fly with make about 180-220K. I made over 300 in '14.
The men and women I fly with all enjoy their work generally and people that they fly with. If you choose a career here, you and your family will do well.
Peace out-

2015 looks to be a banner year of hiring at each of the "big 3" and you can put this trauma behind you. There's talk of 2010 hires at Delta holding 717 NYC CA at Delta this year.
Or are you past "career V1"?

Some of us should be more bitter than we are I guess. I'm trying to retire at 56, and the pay, benefits, retirement, and conflict bidding make it possible. You can make money at this place, YMMV
