Swift Air - The truth
#681
The SWA 300s are actually the best, powerful APUs with good pressure, dual recirc fans(rare in a 300) GPS, HUD, ADS-B compliant etc. Our top fleet is definitely the SWA fleet and the Alaska birds. The issue with the SWA birds is ICE hates them because it has only 2 lavs, that’s just the swa layout.
The USair birds when we got them years ago were already rode hard and put away wet, USair rode those things to the ground and got every penny out of it. Those are the older and probably ones that need the most TLC or to be put into pasture and sold to miller brewing.
The rest of the fleet is a mishmash of Korean air, European airlines and the bad purchases of junked out acft from xtra they bought.
The 800s for the most part are good, they’re just been worked hard in Europe with limited parts(stuck in customs) and a schedule that doesn’t give a lot of downtime from the customer to give them the work needed.
IAero already said we’re never buying new airplanes because our utilization rate cannot account for cost or lease cost of a new bird. Basically the classic will eventually go away and become an NG fleet replaced with early 2000 models of 800s at some point. Ironically the value of the NG and classic went up after the max deals.

Hopefully an only NG fleet is in your near future.

Wow! Not trying to bash your company or anything but those 300s were pretty used up. I get that the avionics may be better but to say the APU is good is interesting. Yeah they started the engines but never could get the plane cool if it was over 80° outside.

I like flying the SWA 300s, fly really nice like an NG almost with the winglets. Pretty slick birds. Granted the instruments are analog, but I’m so used to it.
Basically SWA left a lot of good components on their 300s. Their seats are a bit weird with that 727 style pivoting pilot seat vs a seat on a track.

Yeah they flew very nice. Watch your fingers on those seats. Makes sure you never put them inside the track when you're moving it. There was a guy in training in the sim that cut off a finger doing that.

First off, I’m a pilot-I make decisions on the “operations” :cringe: level daily.
Secondly, Resumes-Yours definitely isnt, thats why they didnt make you DO.
If youre a manager at Swift-its because you’ll keep the toxic watchdog standard alive.
Seriously, how many instances of blatant and willful regulatory noncompliance can you be accomplice to-before you realize you dont know what the heck is going on?
And really? You wont fly a plane without both packs operating? Ha! You must not work here or you hardly ever fly...and theres only one way the latter is possible.
But yeah make me DO, I could show you a few things. First lesson; How to properly use the spine.

What I think, you need to sit back relax enjoy the ride and move on to the dream job, and if it’s that horrible here companies are hiring but beware they all come with some other issues that this place may not have.

I didn't know that SMELL meant the light was on... maybe try brushing up your reading comprehension before you start suggesting it to others.

Been hearing about raises for 2 years now. The COO says our pay needs to be in line with the ULCC's, but talk is cheap
#690
Still waiting for the new EXTRA to restart, and perhaps one other ULCC. Direct Entry Captains, 30% pay raise, much newer fleet.
BONUS at the end of September remember.
Then roughly 15 to 20 will take up the offers that Jeff, and Mexi has been pushing...” I you don’t like it here...LEAVE.”
Timing is everything. When the time is right, people will make their move. It’s that simple.
