Well the pay is no where near par for the equipment and operation. The benefits are not par with the profession. Many other things are sub-standard. That's why a union was voted in. Hopefully there will be an acceptable CBA sooner rather than later....

Got a buddy who would be interested. Is there any difference between the DC10 and 757/767 fleets in terms of schedules, length of tours, worldwide routes, and adhoc (i.e., pop-up flights) vs. more "consistent" scheduling (I know Omni does not fly "scheduled" flights)? Do trips tend to originate from certain cities more than others (i.e., ATL and DFW)?

Pure speculation, but how much longer do you think the DC10s will be operated? Obviously get up there in age and costs. Can one assume they might be replaced by more 777s down the road?

I've been in the pool for two months. I'm pretty water-logged now and I'm going to need some floaties very soon.

Getting ready for class soon and need to replace my aging (7 years) Compaq.

What type of computer do you guys flying the line tote around (tablet, netbook, small notebook)? Is battery life something I should strongly consider? In school is there a need for a disk drive? Once I'm on the line, are company updates etc on flash drives, downloaded, or disks (do I need a disk drive)?

A virtual beer for guidance and input will be rewarded :-)

I haul around a 13" MacBook Pro. All you need is a CD drive for all the manuals once you're online.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro and it opens all the company documents you need, but for ground school you will need a windows based operating system for the aerosim. I just bought and installed windows parallel on my mac and did not have any problems with it.

Get what suits you the best personally and download what you need to accomodate Omni programs. I carried around a compaq for a long time would probably would still have it if I wasn't so careless with it. I carry around a 300 dollar netbook and all my manuals on a flash drive now. Small, compact, and the battery last a long time. I will stake caim in the virtual beer since no one else has.
