I don't have any inside info I threw out the number of 5 yrs cause that's when the retirements are in full swing and competition to hire pilots will be at its greatest. I think we both agree in order to expand or even keep status quo companies are going to have to pay more.

Time to uograde DECs?
CASS/ZED?
Growth in 2017?
Training pay/where?

Trying to choose between Swift or Xtra. Possible DEC at Xtra. They say they are getting more 737s, possible 767s and maybe 777s. I know I know!

Xtra is still dangling that carrot? My whole time there we heard that rumor. They even hired guys from dynamic on the 767 telling then they would be captains on the 767 in months, but just be a FO on the 737 while we work on our paperwork. I'm pretty sure they did a yr as a FO and are now cpts on the 737 still waiting for that magical 767 to show up.
It's not that they don't have the ability to get those planes its that they try to do everything in house on the cheap and do not have anyone with experience to get the training programs up and running. Not to mention they'd have to get it past their POI. It took them a yr just to write a training program for the 800s.
The wheels will fall off for xtra. If the price of oil goes up they are done.

-bases ICE- IWA and SAT, VIP- BNA GSO ORD BED. Cuba- MIA
-upg time probably over a year. Many senior FOs waiting.
-CP has made commitment to no more street captains.
-CASS with most airlines except delta. No ZED
-training you receive a per diem until you start OE. Hotel and transportation provided. Indoc is being done in Gso with sims in MIA.
- FAA approval for growth to 21 airplanes.
-NGs hopefully sometime this yr to replace old 400s VIP acft.
-no more cargo flying, they're selling the cargo plane.
-new contract for car manufacturers and casinos begin next month. Hope we can handle the capacity.
-ICE flying has been increasing, SAT has 2 acft operating now.

The 767 rumor has been going for years! Doubt it'll happen, they want us as a 737 airline. It's growing, just not aggressively, seems like a dollar at a time. Added another 400 which is going through FAA comp checks now. It's busy and we're definitely understaffed and underequipped with more Acft needed to run just what we have.

Speculating on if it goes under soon? Of course that's speculation, only the owner knows that question, but based on what others say who work there (there's the answer to the other question) it'll be hard to overcome much more.
The rest of what I said happened in the past and is not speculation.

I thought you went to xtra?

Thanks Mex and Hoover. No, have not gone yet. For what it's worth, the people I talk to at Xtra say things have improved. Amerijet has a new contract and Northern Air Cargo will too. This means competition for crews not just in MIA but everywhere. Amerijet will be replacing the 727s with something and I think NCA will build up a decent sized operation in MIA. Adapt or die. Watch Swift and Xtra merge or Xtra buy Dynamic.

Let's just all hope that after Jan 20th the world doesn't come to a screeching halt.

I think a dynamic swift merger is more plausible since one of the owners controls swift and dynamic. Somebody had started a rumor of swift buying eastern, DO quickly shut that rumor down saying why would we buy a place worse off! I see Miami air doing a lot more apple vacations flying now, so maybe xtra is losing Apple?
