Unfortunately not possible, Newark would be great but you know how likely that is. Commuting at this pay just doesn’t make sense.

IF that happens our survival will be grim and doubtful.

How the heck will we get ANYONE on property when not only all the majors will be hiring in droves in 2023-24 but better regionals like Endeavor and Republic will likely have even better contracts than they do now, and also be hiring massively?

How??

The company HAS to be aware that they will choke the golden goose if they don’t get something that passes overwhelmingly in the next year at the most.

If I’m wrong please set me straight

Your perception is correct that the majors will be hiring massively and sustained in the not to distant future. As Ross Perot said (on a different topic), a Giant Sucking Sound.

Should I roll the dice and go to Commutair with the hopes of getting in and building time fast and getting into Aviate and hopefully United as they ramp up hiring even though the pay sucks and some people don't like it and the risk of 145's going away and the airline folding. Or should I go to SkyWest or Envoy where there's more security, nicer planes and better pay but potentially be an FO for 3+ years? Would it be a "rolling the dice"?

Aviate is the fastest way to United if you get in. The only people who sh*t on Aviate are those who either didn’t pass the interview process or those who are at the fancier regionals and therefore aren’t eligible to even apply.

Everything in life involves risk one way or another. Coming to C5 is more upfront risk with a higher payout long term. Going to SW or Envoy is less risk now but will cost you years of top pay at a major. I came to C5 and it worked out for me. Others have made the same decision and it did not.

CPP/Aviate or whatever you call it takes many great people but also takes some "less than optimum candidates". This is the problem, there seems to be no formula for success.

How they decide who gets in I don't know.

Build time fast? Here? Not gonna happen. On reserve you will hardly fly at all. And as a junior line holder I’m getting 50-6o hours a month. Don’t mean to be negative but that has been my experience so far. If quality of life, pay, or building time fast is a priority. You will not get that here and just being blatantly honest. What you will get is a Great pilot group, and lots of fellow pilots willing to help you out. Obviously if you can’t get in anywhere else I say go for it. But if anyone else gives you a CJO, take it and run.

I was talking with some reserve pilots in the IAH crew room last week. They said they have been flying every day except a couple. I think it just depends on your base and some luck. As far as not building a lot of time as a junior lineholder, I think it depends on your base, bidding preferences, etc. I know some junior pilots that bid max credit and are getting lines with 90 hours a month. Of course, they only get 12-13 days off a month. We would all like a 90 hour line with 17 days off but that's not realistic right now. So you gotta make a choice between working a lot 0r having more days off.

I am IAH based, and I’m not at the bottom of the list. Still can’t get anywhere near 90 hours. And I only get 12 days off.
