Without hesitation I would simply say, "Roger, we'll follow the unicycler..."
The whole fully configured and Vapp by FAF is soooo obnoxious. I hate how I have to pretend I'm something I'm not when I go to MSP/STL.

Also as a serious note SLIP stands for seniority list instructor pilot or something like that. It's a line pilot that works as an sim instructor.

As long you are safely stable by 1,000' I think the most you'll hear is a debrief on the FAF recommendation if they are unrealistic and picky.
Maybe others have had a different sim experiences though?

Line life vs. sim life. In the sim, autopilot is on at acceleration altitude/400', off at 70/MDA. Slowed to Vapp around 8-10 miles out. Flare on landing? Huh? Oh and FLCH is the only button I push.

You’re welcome
Already have an order in but their shirts take a while to ship since I ordered a sold out size. Just wanted to check in case I have to put the other ones to use. Thanks.

The ban on flaps 4 makes it more and more clear that the chief pilots have little actual experience flying the airplane.
What a head scratcher. So now I can't use a flaps setting on the airplane? I guess when I get slowed to 150 kts 30nm from LAX with stall protect ice I'm supposed to throw the gear out... 30 miles from the runway...
Not to mention the issues with flaps full if 4 is prohibited.

While I totally agree with you and have in the past used it, this is from Embraer actually. Only the jungle jet would have a flap setting you have to skip when configuring for landing. Honestly never heard of another aircraft where this was the case.

I mean flaps 4 and 5 are the same technically. Would it be a problem to use flaps 5 when you have to and just deal with the endless aural warning for operational necessity? I mean we have all gotten it at least once. Just a little too quick on calling flaps 5, set Vapp, landing check before the gear was locked. To me, it was never a big deal. Whoops need to wait a second longer. Just thinking outside the box. I’m sure I’d get a FOQA call.

Hmm I've never seen anyone make that mistake. That's rough.

RIP flaps 4, I always felt smart doing that occasionally, like I would call for it, look to the CA or FO, and there would be a mutual nod.. "yeah...we know about flaps 4..."

I think maybe only once or twice did I use it as an "intermediate" setting while waiting for the gear to come down, and I understand why they want to discourage that. However, I've used it plenty of times for stall protect ice speeds when given a low speed on a heavy aircraft, and I use it when landing flaps full as a reminder so that I get a too low, flaps if we accidentally forget to go flaps full, preventing the possibility of landing flaps 5 when we have full numbers.
It's insane to me to have something on the plane we can't use.

Just for clarity, the 737 skips several intermediate flap settings during normal configuration sequence. However, I agree with your overall point. F4 is a tool that's there to be used.

What do you mean by skips? On the 737 at my carrier I've used them all at different times..depending on the speed.
