Compass Issues

Anyways.....so until Compass CAN NOT afford to be so picky (if and when that day ever comes), they are going to be subtle sticklers for all 3 (or at the very least a combination of any 2)......jet time, glass time, & 121 time. Good luck guys![/QUOTE]

Compass is loaded with experience. Most FO's have over 1000hrs jet PIC previous to being at Compass. Compass has already seen attrition due to Emrites, AirTran and Virgin hiring. Add the flow through and other airlines that are starting to hire and Compass will be at the back of the line looking for talent.

Yep. Having been sold to Daddy Hulas and the flow terminated for newhires, I think we're going to have a tough time attracting experienced people when *everyone* is hiring.

For orientation anyone have any hotel recommendations that have a shuttle and a decent price?

What about crashpads for the main portion of training? I plan on having my vehicle so public transit isn't a big concern.

Feel free to pm me.

The Country Inn and Suites is $45 plus tax. Just tell 'em you work for Compass. They will take you to and from the training center. As far as a crash pad I would suggest PMing mynameisjim. He is a local in MSP and rents rooms in his house for training. Good luck.

Here I am! Thanks for the referral. I might have space for one now (waiting to hear back from one), and definitely space for two starting December 6th. PM if you'd like to know more.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm planning to wait until the end of Dec/early Jan before I apply to a few of other regionals; should have U.S. citizenship/passport by then. I've waited 12 years for a regional job, what's another few months. ;) Thanks for the info.

don't wait for citizenship. You are qualified as a perm resident.
This wait can be the difference between having a job vs. being furloughed.

Anyone have any hard information from hr on how many more are to be hired? Is compass still conducting interviews? When will classes run till?

Between now and January 31, 2011 there are five more new hire classes scheduled in the training plan. Recent class size has varied from a high of nine to a low of five (was supposed to be six, but one changed his mind). I don't know planned class sizes for the next classes, but I would estimate a target of six per class.

Average flight times of new hires has been roughly 2500 TT. Low end is about 1600, recent high end 9000. However that top end was an internal hire, if you disregard him, the high end drops to about 6700. I don't recall multi times, sorry.

Everyone in this hiring cycle (approx Spring 2010 onward) is prior 121, vast majority, I'd say +90% are 121 regional. Seeing plenty of Horizon and Mesa folks, followed by Mesaba, Comair, Colgan, Commutair, etc. Have not seen a pure 135 pilot in quite some time, probably over a year now.

Hope this helps. I don't know the status of interviews right now, or how many slots are filled in the remaining classes. Also, there may be more classes after January 31, but I don't know if the training plan after that date has been set yet.

Hey, do you know how many more upgrade classes there are in the plan after the 12/1 class? Most of that one (myself included) got DTW. Just want to know if there are going to be more MSP slots opening.

Anyone have new hire class over the holidays? What was the training schedule like? Do you train on Christmas or New Years?

The contract doesn't allow training over a holiday...
