probably so. I've just heard day 1 referred to as orientation and return from home study as indoc.

FLYZERG 08-27-2014 04:40 PM

3-1 of the contract which is public on Compass MEC > Home

Longevity accrual for a Pilot will commence from the date a
Pilot’s new hire class begins, herein referred to as his “date
of hire” or “EDAP.”

That sounds like it is open to interpretation to me, I would put my lack of money on management interprets this to mean when you start class one month after orientation. Honestly though I don't know yet, im sure someone can chime in with their experience on it.

It is now the first day you show on property before you go home for your 1 month of home study...

typical41 08-27-2014 05:30 PM

Anyone know, is the home study still 1 month long or is it down to only 2 weeks in duration?

I would have put money on 30 days, how recently did it change? I know the contract allows it to change but I didn't think it had yet.

I believe the November classes start it.

Don't forget this little gem.

If his EDAA (Employment Date As Adjusted...basically your hire date) falls between the first (1st) day and the sixteenth (16th) day of a Calendar Month (inclusive of both days), a Pilot’s effective date for automatic pay progression shall be the first (1st) day of the flying month that predominantly covers the first (1st) through sixteenth (16th) Calendar Day period of that Calendar Month. If his EDAA falls after the sixteenth (16th) day of a Calendar Month, a Pilot’s effective date for automatic pay progression shall be the first (1st) day of the flying month in the Calendar Month following the Calendar Month in which the EDAA occurs.

Huh, same one I'm using. Guess I got ripped off.

Good suggestion on the Craigslist rent-a-room suggestion. I haven't gotten an official class start date yet, just orientation. And now I read it may be going from 30 days to two weeks between. Need that hard date to start setting this up.

Oh the games Delta plays, now putting pressure on Alaska, and Skywest

DegeReguard 08-29-2014 05:25 PM

Hey guys,

Anyone have updates on Compass's Projected Hiring Numbers and Interviews in the coming months?

For those of you getting interview and going through training how long between applying and getting the call for the interview?

I got a call from RAH after dropping an app in about a week and a half offering an interview and i've had my application in at compass for 2 months plus, though updated bi-weekly, and have an internal recommendation but still no call. Is RAH just desperate?

I know they've been calling people without degrees in for interviews now, have any non-degree types been getting hired recently?

I'm already a second year FO at Trans States Airlines still a year or more away from the Upgrade Minimums, but i'm a line holder and QOL isn't bad, i'd just like to get in on the west coast action, similar upgrade times, guaranteed delta interview once my degree is fininished and EJETS at compass and if I took a job at RAH I can kiss any prayer of Compass goodbye so i'm thinking of canceling my RAH interview but....

Do you think compass will be able to staff the coming growth without issues?

As I said i've got no degree and a few speeding tickets from 4+ years ago as a downside. (When I was younger and dumber, as I'm only now 25 and ALOT of growing up happens between 21 and 25) but as an upside I have an internal Recommendation and a perfect training and criminal record, do you think as they spool up the hiring to staff the American flying I've got a shot? Should I kindly decline RAH's offer and hold out at Trans States a little longer for compass to call? How much longer do you think it'll take to get around to calling lowly career still budding me?

MrMustache 08-29-2014 06:58 PM

Sounds like 10 a week new hires until late summer/ fall 2015. Upgrading 300+ by then from what I gather from the training dept.

flatlander 08-29-2014 07:38 PM

I received the email inviting me to call and setup an interview the same day I applied, and it was scheduled about 3 weeks out from that day.

Clean record, 4yr degree, lots of 121 SIC time.

yeah, and eagle/envoy last year was only hiring 650 pilots. to bad they did not make half.

Flightsoffusion 08-29-2014 11:24 PM

Is it safe to assume that they won't be hiring guys without 121 time? Have a degree and have had an ATP since 1999. Probably an age issue now. Applied but no word back.

Not true on any level. We have new hires with no ATP, no prior 121, and in their 50's, so keep updating and try to go to a job fair if you can.

That's the standard...schedule 2-3 weeks out to give you time to study

Nope. I had no 121 or 135 time and got an email to call the first business day after I applied.

Little different than eagle in this case. Explosive growth and movement off the top and all... Those things attract new hires.

My background is all 135 - got the call, and I've heard they're hiring flight instructors with no previous 121/135 as well. But it took a few weeks from when I applied to when I received a call.

Off topic - but, are there any MSP locals in the Sept 11 class I can PM?

saturn 08-30-2014 06:51 AM

Just curious. Whats the pilot seniority # of the most jr FO today, not including guys in training? Whats the number of the most junior captain?

Example: 500 pilots total. Jr FO #500, Jr CA #270

Latest seniority in our vacancy bid. Jr FO 498, JR Capt 295. That was the last upgrade for last/this years flow.

DegeReguard 08-30-2014 08:01 AM

Odd that i'm updating at least once a week, have had my app in for two months, have a letter of recommendation, have previous and current 121 time and am not getting the call... I wonder if it is because i'm already under TSH?

Any job fairs coming up soon compass will be at?

Aero Crew Solutions. San Francisco in October.

barabek 08-30-2014 12:01 PM

I have an orientation day on October 9th. I'm wondering if anyone here knows how many and how big classes are scheduled for September and October (before my class). It was also mentioned here that the home CBT study time may be shortened to 2 weeks. I'm curious if we get any heads up on that from the company or we should expect a short notice on the orientation day. Any info is appropriated. Thanks!

kb8018 08-30-2014 12:21 PM

Classes run every Thursday starting with Sept 4th. CBT won't shorten to 2 weeks until December.

kb8018 08-30-2014 12:24 PM

I was looking through the CBA online and was reading the MOU about Long Call Reserve. Anyone have an idea on when that will take effect, how long it is (I think 12 hour call out?) and who will be affected by LCR? Not the easiest thing to read and understand for a non-121 guy...

barabek 08-30-2014 12:27 PM

Thanks for the info. Any idea how big are the classes?

BurningMan 08-30-2014 01:25 PM

Interviewed last week. 12/23 class date. 10/wk starting soon, CBT is now 14 days according to recruiting (you all probably know more than I do, though). 13 days from call to interview date.

Its 14 days for everyone hired from here on since they are already in late December classes.

No discussion from the union since our CBT was signed, I haven't heard one pilot mention it on the line. We have had violation after violation of our new CBA, don't plan on any details about it anytime soon...

Our contract does not mandate Long call reserve. It is only a suggestion. The company will not be implementing Long call reserve at compass airlines.Only thing we will have is regular/crappy reserve.

You should read it again.

Snickers 08-30-2014 05:08 PM

Wasn't there a timeline to implement LCR? 6 months to plan and another 6 months for the program to start or something like that?
