Yes but keep in mind the newsletter also said we are having staffing problems just like all the other regional carriers. While we have a good name for ourselves, were not exempt from the hiring struggles others have felt, and our lack of a top of the line contract and no signing incentive will hurt us in the long run...Eventually this airline will stop running out of quick upgrades and the pilots we hire will have to be incentivized to come here...

It's of my very uninformed opinion that it is what is happening. The recent-ish united RFP that went to Mesa which may very well have been lower cost than compass was also largely decided due to the entire award going to 1 carrier. Compass had no interest in adding that much flying and still doesn't. What does interest them is 10-15 aircraft at most and that would be my assumption for the route they took with their finally announced bid on the american rfp.

New hire classes (of 4ish) are still running and interviews are still happening. Keep updating and hitting up your bros.

Keep in mind, we usually have several hundred applications on file - "down slightly" could mean low hundreds instead of high hundreds.

I think you misread the news letter - it didn't say that we're having staffing issues, it said "our number of applicants is down slightly". We're currently building a hiring pool, and are not having staffing issues or difficulty attracting qualified applicants.

I really think that building a pool, right now, is a big mistake. I understand we are dealing with TSH.
Right now, we have right around 530 pilots. A bare Minimum of 91 flow pilots will still be leaving in 2014. Most likely 130 pilots will leave in 2015 to the flow to DL as well(Minimum of 80 though). All this is assuming that DL does not take an additional 15-20 flow pilots in 2014, and there is a lot of talk of that being a real possibility. You combine that with at least around 25 pilots per year going to other carriers.
I just don't understand why we would put ANY qualified pilot, who successfully interviewed, in a pool, considering the hiring environment we are in. Those pilots are now very likely to not wait-it-out for Compass, and leave to other regional carriers who have an earlier class date. It will get worse and worse by the day, trying to find qualified pilots who want to come to Compass. Get these guys and gals in a class now, before they go elsewhere.
We might not have had a problem hiring for this past wave of flows, but I fear it will be much more difficult this next time around. One thing is for sure, if they wait as long as they did last time (Late July) to ramp up the full hiring for the departing flow pilots, we will find ourselves in a very bad staffing situation real fast.
With 117, the addition of the LAX base, and our new contract...I don't think Compass can get by with less than 490 or 500 pilots. Either hope that you can get 20 pilots a month this fall, or start putting the pilots in class now.
I think it is hilarious, after all this being said, that TSH would bid on the AA E170 flying. I don't think we could even staff 5 new E170's for AA. I wish AA would just give those planes to Eagle; they have the pilots right now to staff them.

We also still don't have 575 pilots either

I was offered a job April 3rd and still waiting to hear about a class date. I'm told no classes until June-ish

I'm not unqualified either by any stretch. Hope to see you on the on-line.
