I came to compass with 0 121 time and the training was the easiest thing I've ever done in my aviation career.

They want you to know all your flows and memory items and limitations COLD!!!!!!

They want you to know your profiles very well. The sim i heard they will give you 3 extra sims if you need it. Systems training your own your own again.

Be very careful joining compass if you have no experience. One doesn't want to fail initial training and have a record in their file.

Skywest and mesa have very good training. They really teach you and make the effort. Skywest by far has the best training. With skywest as long as they see you are trying and have a good attitude they will work with you and do their best to get you through the training. On the other hand Compass, gojet, and transtate mostly farm out their sim trainig from flight safety and really don't have any of their own sim instructors to teach you. And in their ground school the instructor just read out and goes very fast about systems so you have to be ahead of the game.

For prior 121 guys, military guys, it's a piece of cake, but for new hires of CFi background or part 135 guys flying cargo it might be a challenge.

Good luck

How are guys doing in system class and sim with self study course?

You are obviously confused. You must check your facts as Compass has a very respectable training program with excellent instructors of whom all want to see you succeed.

1). Red flag #1...."I heard from a friend"...blah blah
2) Absolutely not true. I know for a fact that's not true. You get all the extra training you need and only after you fail your LOE 2 times will they think about if you're a good fit for Compass.
3) We farm out ZERO training to Flight Safety or CAE. We have majority SLIP (Seniority List Instructor Pilots) and some NLC (Non Line Capable) pilots with tons of experience.

Your "Friend" needs to get his facts straight or you need to stop posting BS that you know isn't true...or can't confirm is true.

Compass has a great training program with a very high pass rate. We will do anything and everything possible to make sure you make it through. You do Systems CBTs, a full week of Ground systems/FMS class plus 5 Systems Integration training (SITs) classes. If you can't figure out the systems after all of those classes plus your own studying then you may not be the best Compass candidate. We won't spoon feed you, you can go to SkyWest if you need that. But we won't let you fail if you put effort into it and actually try.

+2

I finished recently, if you have any questions whatsoever, instructors are more than happy to answer/find the answer for you. Put in a solid effort and you'll get through without any issues. Just don't expect to be spoon fed.

Anyone know the earliest one could get a class date?

Call the recruitment department and get the ball rolling and ask them. Asking on here won't get you any official or concrete answers.

Pretty quick. Classes start every Thursday and I'm pretty sure you can take a spot early if you want. I got my class date 3 weeks after my interview date and could probably have gotten an earlier one if I wanted to.

I started exactly two weeks after my interview. Once assigned a class start date I decided I wanted to start ASAP. Recruiting had ZERO issue getting me into the next available class. I've been quite impressed with all aspects of my CPZ experience thus far.

How descent are the Lax lines? Do they have some high time lines? How efficient are they? Easy to pick up open time? How commuter friendly are they right now? I'd be commuting from DFW, currently at Envoy, thinking about making the jump. Thanks in advance!

Our airplane mostly flies legs averaging 2 hours each, creating efficient flying. Lines are subject to change, but you should be fine.

That said, do you meet the 1000 121 SIC requirement? If so, you should make the jump... now, not in a month or two. You will probably hold CA in training due to the amount of pilots that have to bypass right now. Our next bid for July should have new hires from JAN-MAR holding the upgrades.

Wait too long and you will miss the opportunity since in 6-12 months from now, we will have all those bypassed pilots starting to hit the minimums negating any early upgrades that are occurring right now.

If you're at Envoy, what are you realistic chance of upgrading if you're an FO?
