Compass updates

Any indications or feelings on how long LAX will remain a base and the likelihood of it remaining junior?
As I consider which regionals to apply to, base locations are about at the top of my list for my choosing criteria, and the LAX base existing and being junior is the #1 reason for me to look at Compass (my focus is to keep commuting as short to non-existent as possible). Knowing how regional bases come and go with the changing winds makes me nervous to roll the dice like that.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

can some guys at compass shed some light on realistic upgrade time? i have an interview coming up next week, im currently 121 with plenty of time on the 170 and really interested in compass. but im also worried about making a lateral move and just getting stuck again as an FO for longer than I can handle. Thanks very much in advance

Some of the best lines I have ever gotten have been while being near the bottom of the line holder list.
I have been told it has to do with coverage days/trip availability. When you are near the bottom, pretty much every day of the month is a coverage day, and since you can't work everyday and there are only so many trips available once the computer gets that far down the list (limiting its ability to build 90+ hour lines), you end up with better schedules.

I bid 40% in LAX and got 17 off 85 hours. Middies and Aviator147 just don't know how to bid ;-)

Restricting your bid with report and release times can have a drastic effect on the end result. Too many day off requests into deep layers can lead to similar results. Couple them together and you might not like what you see.
Sometimes you can't control what you need to bid and you put those restrictions in, but they can screw you if there is no possible combination that works.
Just because it worked one month, doesn't mean it will work the next, even if you gained seniority. Our trips can change drastically, month-to-month.
You can mess around with that stuff in the early layers, but they are true when they say, a simple bid will produce the best result for you, at your given seniority.

Wait a few more days after the latest bid comes out and you'll get a pretty good idea. Last award went to late December 2014 hires. I'd say at least 50% of the people hired from January on don't have the 121 time to upgrade (pure speculation). This latest award is 32 people. It could very well go down to March 2015 new hires or lower.
So either:
A. Senior FO's who are not qualified are bidding CA anyways even though the company has asked repeatedly that they not do that. But as evidenced by the suspension of the F.C., people can not seem to do what they are asked to do (or in these cases NOT do)
B. Enough senior FO's have reached the min quals and bid CA, or waited until they saw the MSP vacancies and bid this time around.
So, let's see what happens.

According to the "what if" feature, guys in mid-January classes were not being awarded a CA spot.
